Great coaster and very unique! I thought it was awesome but not my favorite.
I am a Ride op at SFEG, and now this ride really well. To clear some things up: The spinning is created by the fact that the cars are not mounted directly in the center, but are off by like a foot and a half. Second - the side nearest the exit is smooter than the other - dont ask me why, it just is. This is a really great ride, and is both fun to work and to ride.
Halfpipe was a lot of fun, and certainly very unique. Riding up and down the two vertical towers on this U-shaped track would probably be fun enough, but once you throw in the spinning seats, you get a truly crazy coaster ride. I actually found a medium amount of spinning to be the best. This way you could enjoy the coaster portion as well as the spinning portion, getting that great negative-g feeling if you happen to round the top as the car begins to fall down the tower. The second time I rode the spinning was much more violent, and the ride started becoming a head-banger. Regardless, I still really enjoyed Halfpipe, and would like to see this type of coaster added to other parks.
This coaster was my favorite in the park. It had a surprising amount of airtime, and I loved the spinning. Some people make the funniest expressions when you are free falling.
I think this is the best ride in the park. Picture the Superman at SFMM, with a teacup-style ride on it instead of fixed seats. The ride makes about 5 back & forth runs on a short, steep, U-shaped vertical track, with a kick given to it on every pass until the brakes kick in. Riders face outward and are spun. (I cant tell if the spinning is driven mechanically, or happens just due to inherent imbalances in weight.) Its not so much a thrill ride as experiential, and the experience is great. The tracks are smooth, the ride is high, theres a lot of airtime, and the view over the Denver is gorgeous with lots of it (the river, the old transportion museum which is now REI, the trains at Union Station, downtown, Longs Peak...). The best part? Going up to the tippy-top of the track, and *almost* hitting the bumpers at the end. Technically one could call it a roller coaster, but its so different than any other `coaster that such a comparison is too simple.
When I first Heard About this ride i thought it was funny that the train was a snowboard and like many others i was not expecting much at all. I also thought the ride was some what loud. i came to this convinced i was not going to enjoy it at all;But i was wrong. The airtime on this ride is amazing and better then some hyper coasters. The launch really isnt much of a launch at all but still fun. Since the cars twist you always have a differnt view and at some points it looks like your going to fly off the track. I gave this ride a ten because i got more then i expected.
One of the best rides at SFEG. Halfpipe is a great coaster. There is plenty of airtime, and you get a very long ride. The spinning sections can be a bit disorienting... The launch is really lame. 0-45 in 5 seconds.
Lines for halfpipe can get huge thanks to the low capacity. Ride this in the morning.
This was a different experince for the ordinary coaster rider! The weightlessness is great and the ride is so much fun but its really loud!
Really fun ride. I wasnt expecting that much because of the hight of this ride but was surpised by how good it was
