This ride is now called Dragon Wing since Elitch Gardens is no longer a Six Flags park and SF has the rights to "Batman" stuff. However, it's still the same ride. I don't particulary like this ride since you can't see very well past the wings or anything but the car infront of you. You don't even really get a sense of being high since you can't see much.
I thought this ride had its share of pros and cons. The ride did reach an awesome hieght, and swung at a good speed. However the little joystick deal didnt really make a whole lot of difference. It was still fun though!
Im not exactly sure what the generic name for this type of ride is, as Ive only seen one in one other park (Paramounts Kings Dominion, in the Nickelodeon section), but its sort of like a flying scooters ride. I say sort of very loosely. Here there are two fins, one on each side of the vehicle. You use a joystick to control them, rather than swinging the fins themselves. Although the two rudders do work in sync, somehow together they kill any kind of snapping action that could occur. It is therefore a very civilized swing ride with the Batwings all gently circling around the central tower. The only saving grace here is that you do reach quite a reasonable height, but that still didnt keep the ride from becoming dull by the time it was over.
