Dull; worthwhile only for Catastrophe Canyon. This ride was one of the biggest disappointments at the resort. It really was truly, truly stultifying; there is hardly anything to see. The props at the beginning of the ride were all trashed, rusting away, and looked truly awful. Very, very boring.
Used to be an 8 until they tore down most of their backlot. I don'.t even know why its even still running?
Cool ride but it is kind of boring. I remember it being alot better but its still pretty solid.
This was an okay ride but not when you have a homosexual tour dude.
I havent been on this ride in years, but I do remember having a great time on it. One of the best attractions at MGM, the Backlot Tour had about a 10 minute wait when I went on it. The preshow was very cool and I wish that I could have been picked (it was about 95 degrees and humid so some water would have certainly been welcomed). Anyway, the props were decent at best and the ride was exceptionally long at around 30 minutes. Easily the highlight for me was Catastophe Canyon. It looked great and the water effect was sensational. As a bonus I was on the left side of the car and got a bit wet. The Backlot Tour is a very good attraction that shouldnt be missed when you visit MGM.
This ride was horrible. The only thing worth riding it is the canyon stunt show. The preshow was horrible. However, having the volunteers act was hilarious. The instructor had the effects wrong and he was far off. This ride is bad, id skip it.
ok ok. It was a lot better when they had the sets where before they put in The stunt show.
When we were there my brother and my aunts boyfriend got to participate in the harbor attack pre show. It was hysterical but the tram ride is too short now that the stunt show is there and therefore it sucks. Skip this ride.
Not very fun. Water preshow was the best part. The tram guided part is not anything special.
Though the tour is nowhere near as good as it used to be, its still a decent attraction that is worth a visit at least once each trip to WDW... and honestly, its a staple of Disney-MGM Studios. The first part of the tour, the special effects water tank, is fun - and it is really easy to be a volunteer for it - just ask a cast member - they will most likely let you do it, unless they are not doing the full show due to cold weather. The 2nd portion of the tour - the tram, took a major blow when Lights, Motors, Action came in, taking out most of the space for the boneyards and residential street. However, Disney did an OK job of making a tour out of the little bit of space that is still left back there. Catastrophe Canyon, when working properly, is still pretty neat and makes the tram tour worthwhile if you didnt find any of the props interesting. Overall, in a park that is already lacking actual *rides*, the Backlot Tour is a good way to spend 35 minutes of your day.
