I havent been on this ride in years, but I do remember having a great time on it. One of the best attractions at MGM, the Backlot Tour had about a 10 minute wait when I went on it. The preshow was very cool and I wish that I could have been picked (it was about 95 degrees and humid so some water would have certainly been welcomed). Anyway, the props were decent at best and the ride was exceptionally long at around 30 minutes. Easily the highlight for me was Catastophe Canyon. It looked great and the water effect was sensational. As a bonus I was on the left side of the car and got a bit wet. The Backlot Tour is a very good attraction that shouldnt be missed when you visit MGM.
