This isn't the first time I've had to defend the wood coaster everyone hated. Wild Cat is a very nice compliment to Lightening Racer in the way that it's a very forceful ride. This ride also has a very nice ending with good airtime. I understand it's really rough, I've only rode in the old PTC trains, but I can only assume it's a little better with the Flyers? The wait for this ride is considerably longer and also considerably more in the sun then the Racer down the hill, but I digress. I will stand by the Wild Cat and reride when no one else in the group wants to, "single rider right here!" boom on the ride.
I still hurt a week later. Horrible coaster.
Worst coaster I’ve ever been on. I actually feel like I got concussed on it, and still have headaches. Every person that got off it with was complaining about some kind of pain or ailment. This ride is borderline dangerous. I like fast, rough coasters, but this one wasn't even fun, and it shouldn't cause physical injury.
this was quite an intense ride. The new Millenium Flier trains are quite nice and improved the ride significantly although I really enjoyed this ride, but it was still quite rough.
The Wildcat is SUPPOSED to be intense. If you want a gentle ride, try the Trailblazer.
This used to be an exceptional coaster in my opinion and well worth a 10, but the Millenium fliers ruined a lot of the ride in my opinion. Yes the ride is smoother now, but the restraints killed the incredible ejector air the ride once had. However, there still was some air during the ride and the ride was fast-paced.
Coaster enthusiasts often fall into two camps. Those who can excuse a rough ride on a wooden coaster and those who cant. Im in the latter camp. I dont mind being thrown around a bit, but Wildcat just down right hurt. I rode it during my last trip to Hersheypark which kicked off my busy 2006 season.
Wildcat is a wooden twister and the first coaster built by Great Coasters International. As their name suggests, GCI went on to build some great wooden roller coasters including Thunderhead and Lightning Racer. Id ridden Roar at Six Flags America which is an exact clone of Hersheys Wildcat, so I figured I knew what I was in for.
The bumpy ride began with a swooping drop to the right. Its about the only enjoyable part of the ride. The remaining 90% of Wildcat is rough and bumpy. The real low point comes about halfway through. A small hill that was likely designed for a nice, fun pop of air delivered the opposite. I was treated with a violent jerk that resulted in my leg banging against the car. After I got off, I had a small indention below my shin. Luckily, the injury didnt break the skin. I know wooden coasters are known for their roughness, but Wildcat was excessive. Final Rating - 3.5 (Bad Approaching Below Average)
Im a big fan of the Wild Cat. I love wooden coasters, and this one definitely doesnt disappoint.
One of a few Hershey rides that are solid but not top ten material. This is one thats better than I expected as I dont like the older GCIs like Roar and Gwazi, but do like their latest like Thunderhead and Lightning Racer. This one has some solid zest in the form of vertical and lateral Gs. I never rode pre-flyer trains, but I believe that probably helped enormously. Twisters should not have any other trains. I also feel if I spent a few more rides on this, Wildcat may have been my favorite ride in the park, but until next time Lightning Racer holds that place.
My first coaster with MF trains, and wow, I think every woody should have these. This ride was great, so fast and wild, and pretty smooth as well. I heard some horror stories with the PTCs, but rest assured the MFs turned this thing around, one of my fav woodies!
