Rode this for the first time this past Wednesday with my 8 year old neice. The speed surprised me. While it is not super fast, it spins faster than it appears to from the distance. I was surprised by the strong laterals on the lower to mid levels.
One of the parks older rides, it is still a pretty fun ride. Good for kids too.
A perfect ride for my 600th review since it totally captures what belonging to this site has done to me. I now feel the need to complete parks that way my tracker is full. I also love having more reviews then Larry. The ride itself was very forgettable and I would just be repeating what was said in the review right below mine. The most gs come in the middle and I was "flying" with my foot.
This didnt move me. I can see it being good for little kids who might like to be able to ride an adult ride alone & have some control of their own, but it was just riding in a circle while going up and down a little. There was no middle back support for a single rider, so to control the altitude I had to use my foot, which wasnt easy. Perhaps petty, but the hissing sound when going down sounded kinda like passing gas for a l-o-n-g time. To me, it seemed I got the most lateral Gs at a middling height.
A very average flat. I prefer the version of this ride at Magic Kingdom far more. The altitude control is hard to reach for a single rider and is slow to respond. I also had some sort of hydraulic fluid spray my leg while trying to take the rocket down. Probably wouldnt bother to ride again.
Starship America was one of my favorite flat rides at Hersheypark, even though its main crowd is children. With a location at the front of the park in Founders Circle, Starship America is blue and one of the first rides you come across at Hersheypark. This blue roto-jet ride was made by Kasper Klaus. With 12 rockets, each rocket holds 2 people. However, there are some single riders meaning around 16-18 people ride per cycle, which creates a very low capacity. Also, Starship America takes a very long time to load and unload adding to the wait. The line depends on the time of day. Most of the day, Starship America is a 20-30 minute wait. However, right before closing its usually a walk-on. Once you board your rocket, youre restrained by a seatbelt. During Starship Americas decent ride cycle, you can control your rockets height with a lever. I found some extremely powerful laterals when you were at the bottom of the ride. The higher you go up, the weaker the laterals. I enjoyed being in the middle and bottom because they had the best laterals by far. Overall, a fun classic ride thats only problem is a capacity issue. I highly recommend this ride to anyone who enjoys roto-jet type rides.
This is a great ride I remember they took it away a few years ago, im glad Hersheypark brought it back.
Its a fun spinning ride..and I love the fact you control it also.. I recommend not going low its very boring that way..also if you sit in the back you go to the left and the front to the right. I ussually get sick on theese kinds of rides but i didnt. I will give it a 8.
Its a pretty good spinning ride if you have children its more fun to ride with them. It can make you dizzy however.
i love spinning things
