I was pretty surprised by this ride the first time I rode it. You have to be carful not to lean too much into the corners. I almost flipped it a couple of times. Its a long hike up the hill to get there, but it is worth it.
This is a very unique ride. You are on a large tobaggan type mat and sliding down an oversized waterslide. You get going fast enough that you get so high on the walls on the turns you think you are going to flip over. It is nice how it winds through the woods and uses the terrain very well, and the drop after the tunnel is a very nice touch. The only drawback for some people is that you have a long hill to climb up to get to the start of the ride but I don't mind it at all because it is definitely worth it. Overall rating 4.50
Mountain Slidewinder was one of the rides I was most looking forward to at Dollywood, and it did not disappoint. I wasnt quite sure what to make of its ride description, but it ended up really just being a waterslide. However, not a standard waterslide. First of all, it is built into the mountain, so youre not riding in an enclosed elevated tunnel the whole time which is so common with non-waterpark waterslides. Second, the rafts are very unique. Theyre more like sleds than rafts and hold several people in tandem seating. Third, this thing really tears through the course. It swoops down the mountain and swooshes back and forth up the sides of the trough like mad. And lastly, Mountain Slidewinder certainly delivered a soaking. After coming off of Daredevil Falls and the River Rampage pretty much dry, I wasnt expecting to get so completely drenched on this one. But I did get completely drenched. Awesome.
Incredible and unique water slide. The boats were very comfortable and the ride was fast and furious. The boat really gained some amazing speed during the slide and it really flew around the turns, and at times it even felt like the boat would flip over. Also, I got completely drenched and the whole ride had tons of surprises.
Dollywood offers unique thrills that usually are reserved for small park rides. With odd gems like this, Blazing Fury, and Mystery Mine, Dollywood has a good collection of rides not found on your usual tour of theme parks. As for Slidewinder, its a toboggan slide that constantly makes you feel as if youre going to flip right over. So much fun. It also has a bizarre Celebrity Fit Club-esque weigh in that determines who rides in what sled.
By far the BEST water ride in the park. You will get very wet and and it very exilerating. You almost feel as if you are about to fall off of the track, it is awesome!
Good water ride. Probably the most thrilling water ride i have been on the only problem is the long walk up the mountain to get to it. Does anyone know if one of those rafts have ever fallen over?
Oh my gosh this ride is so fun.Ive rode it twice. Trust me you will get wet.
best water ride in the park by far.
WOW! This ride is one of those that you read about and hear people rave about but never turly understand until you ride it yourself. You begin by taking the most relaxing, if not suspenseful, walk up to the weigh station and seeing the ride comense to your right. When you reach the weigh station you are weighed as a group or with a group of other visitors to make a boat. You are then brought onto the platforms and placed in the taboggan like boats. The last thing you hear besides laughing and screaming before the ride begins is the conductor saying"dont rock my itty bitty boat bye bye yall!" After a thrill of a lifetime the only thing going thrpugh your head is lets ride again and most do!
P.S. After riding this five times a group of five gained 30 pounds in water!
