After losing Hershey's rapids, I was excited to be able to ride a rapids again. This one was every bit as good as Hershey's was. The waterfalls that you can't miss. The waterfalls off to the side that you may or may not get hit with. It was almost like old times.
Thunder Canyon at Dorney Park may share the same name as its river rapids cousin found at Cedar Point, but that is where the similarities end. While the one in Ohio is pretty good, the one here in Allentown is easily the BEST river rapids ride I have been on to date. This thing is really an incredible water ride! As I waited in the line the first time, which was agonizingly slow, I was thinking it would probably end up being a waste of time considering how long we waited. Boy, lucky for me I was dead wrong there! The only thing I could think of that would closely replicate the experience on Thunder Canyon would be to jump into a lake or pool while wearing all your clothes. Then, get out and turn around and do it again. And finally, repeat those steps another 3 times or so! This thing is absolutely D-R-E-N-C-H-I-N-G!! The look of the ride is very cool with the landscaping, and it hides the layout and water mayhem that awaits the riders. I literally lost count at something like 8 waterfalls. There is this one section in particular that is a gauntlet, with about 3 falls on each side of the canyon. Trust me, there is NO ONE who escapes the soaking! Not to mention, the rapids themselves are nice and choppy too, and the raft moves through them at a perfect pace. On a hot day, this ride is pure bliss. Kudos to Dorney for having a water ride that delivers the goods (and the water) on an epic scale! Simply a blast to ride and I was laughing hysterically through most of the course. Thunder Canyon's a winner all the way around.
One of the best rapids rides out there by far. The landscaping around the ride is great as it conceals the layout from view and certainly just adds to the rides atmosphere. Also, the ride very pretty long and had many great rapids that got riders really wet. But what really got everyone soaked were the drenching waterfalls that guarantee to get riders soaked.
Wow, this ride really gets you soaked! There were so many waterfalls, and it was barley possible to dodge them! I would recommend this on a really hot day, because you get really wet. Ride this ride, its really good!
I great rapids ride. You get absoultely SOAKED on this ride. Definently a must ride on a hot day (Was extremly hot the last time i went and this helped that out alot!) Pretty much all it is, is a bunch of waterfalls though, not that many drops. Still a great ride and dont miss out on it!
Well u get soaked no matter what of course the rapids are ok u may get wet by them but its more the waterfalls then the rapids that get you wet so it sucks but i rocks i had tons of fun so yea
You WILL get soaked on this ride, no matter what anyones tells you. The ride has a good length and also has some good scenery. Though I wish it had a compartment for some belongings so they dont get wet, like my wallet. But that aside, overall its very fun, and did I mention WET ride! A must ride on a hot day.
Its a really good river raft ride, but the cars are so cramped, everybodys knees rub togather somewhat painfully. The waterfalls are freekin sweet though!
This is fun ride but you get soaked so only ride it if your hot or have a change of clothes. I liked all the water falls. This is one of the best rapid rides Ive been on.
This is by far the best rapid ride I have been on. The line is long but you get soaked, thus making it worth it on hot days. The line dies down around 5 or 6 so you can go on it a bunch of times. Sounds dumb right?--Why get soaked when the day is almost over and it is getting cold? Believe me, it is loads of fun, that is why.
