This launch was great. Sitting in the front seat of this ride is such a rush. There is huge airtime at the top of the hill. After the drop there is not too much after that however this ride still deserves a 10 because of the launch.
Launch and hill are a reall thrill... but after that, nothing much. I sitll rate this as a "one trick pony".
sweeeet launch. this is such a rush. a lil more legnth would be nice, but its still cool as it is. 10.
amazing launch. although every time Ive been to PKD, the line has been over an hour. Like I said, the launch takes your breath away, but after some airtime on the hill, the ride has nothing. even the hill isnt that great. but just for that great launch this ride deserves a 9.
Cool launch, nice airtime at the top, and then the ride is over. I think the worse thing about this ride is the capacity. The day I rode it it was running just on, eight passenger train. Even worse, the restraints on the front seat had broken down, turning the train into a seven passenger train. As you can imagine, it was a long wait, so long infact they had the line outside the queue so that people could get out of line easily. Also, the way the seats are designed on the ride, the only good seat is the front seat, because the others are completely obstructed.
We were encouraged to go to Hypersonic XLC first as it was THE new ride. This is a pretty terrifying ride, no matter how prepared you might be. The sensation of going zero to 80 mph in 3 seconds simply creates the sensation in your body, and there fore the message to your brain, to be afraid - very afraid. It is a great launch. Oddly, we didnt quite feel that this was a rollercoaster as much as an "extreme" ride. We rode it twice, but it doesnt rank at the top of any coaster list of mine. The launch is memorable, but the ride wholly forgettable.
re-reviewed (4/17/03) Ive been on most of Premier Rides launched coasters. Ive been on Xcelerator and Superman at SFMM. NOTHING matches the power and intensity of this rides launch. The speed of acceleration is emphasized by the relatively short track to the hill. Unlike, say, Xcelerator, this rides focus is purely on the launch. It knows its strength and exploits it nicely. No matter how many times you ride it, you can not prepare your body for the experience. I still view it more as an Extreme Thrill than a coaster - like bungee jumping.
Nice, very nice. Full of speed, but yes, Im going to say it, it was too short. Cant wait for Cedar Point to make this look like a kiddie ride.
Hypersonic is a thriller! One great Super Ride! But God help you if the train isnt full. It will fly over the spike so fast your neck and head will be sore for a long time. Keep the train full Dummies of Kings Dominion!
Updating my review. The last time I rode Hypersonic, the launch was still incredible, but the rest of the ride has gone straight to hell. The bucking of the new trains is awful. Not worth a long wait, but the launch is still the most powerful in America. It is more intense than Dragster.
SUPER launch! amazing hill but not much greatness after. Easly the most intence 17 seconds of your life!
