Being the seasoned thrill seeker and coaster nut that I am, there really isn’t much out there that I am fearful of riding. I’ve ridden just about every thrill ride concoction that the designers have thrown out there, and nothing had really given me that kind of nervousness that makes you think "You know what? I think I’ll pass". Nothing, that is, until X-Scream. Perched over the side of the Stratosphere Tower in Las Vegas, at an absolutely ridiculous 866 feet off the ground, X-Scream is simply put one of the most insane thrill rides ever created. In fact, I would love to meet the sadistic person who thought that nearly 1000 feet in the air was a perfect location for thrill rides! That, in my book, is truly being innovative! Looking from the ground, you can faintly see the structure of this ride teetering at the tower’s edge. Down on terra firma, I thought "Eh, that’s not too intimidating!" HA!! Boy, was that a mistaken thought! Once you reach the observation/thrill rides area and step outside, that’s when it hits you as to how high up you are! It was at this point that I walked over and watched X-Scream run, and my traveling buddy simply laughed and told me I was a lunatic! Watching it run, my thoughts then turned to "Holy you-know-what! This thing is just insane!!" That, my friends, was the logical part of my brain, telling me that I was nuts to even think of stepping foot onto that thing. However, that damn adrenaline-craving lobe of my brain told the logical part to can it, and up the stairs I went to the ride’s loading area. My friend was right – I AM a lunatic!! LOL

Once I boarded, in the front row no less, logical processing of any kind went right out the window and was replaced by fear. I’m talking major, heart-pounding, sweaty palms FEAR! I have honestly never been so scared before a ride in my entire life. For those unaware, X-Scream is essentially a glorified teeter-totter, but it is its placement in one of the most terrifying locations imaginable that earns this ride its uniqueness and kudos! As the ride began, my heart was literally racing! Then, the ride instantly tilted down, sending the car barreling over the tower’s edge, to the point where the track disappeared. Alas, the brake grabs hold and stops the train. This leaves you dangling and looking straight down from nearly 900 feet up. Folks, I’m not ashamed to admit it – that first time I screamed, and although it probably sounded subdued, believe me, on the inside it sounded like the shriek of a little girl! The ride then teeters and totters back and forth, sending you over the edge twice more. By now, I was just laughing hysterically (probably to avoid the thoughts that if the brakes failed, I was dead) and throwing my arms up! Then comes the last surprise, the one talked about in reviews below. Cue my heart now jumping into my throat! That little surprise, plain and simple, is EVIL!! But, like any good thrill seeker, I loved every second of it!! I exited the ride laughing and just shaking my head, because that was the most extreme ride I have ever ridden. The ride itself is great fun, but the placement of it and the fear it induces is what makes this ride a huge winner. I rode it twice more, and although I knew what all was coming, the ride was still great! I suppose it could eventually lose its novelty if you rode it hundreds of times, but for me it delivered every time. And truthfully, nothing will touch that amazing and downright frightening first ride! This is one of those rides that even in a review cannot be accurately described. It is something as a thrill seeker you just must experience! If you have a fear of heights, well, you probably won’t even be going up the tower in the first place. This is a ride that, if you possess that fear, would probably make you wet yourself just by looking at it. And if you aren’t afraid of heights, well, you may still wet yourself anyway that first time you fly off the edge!! X-Scream certainly may not be for eve

The first plunge off the side of the tower is easily the scariest thing I have ever done (I refuse to do skycoasters so they may be worse for all I know). After that, the ride was kinda drawn out too much and not as scary as silly. I had to laugh on these rides to keep from pissing my pants. X-Scream is too much for me.. I cant ride again (much like Insanity). The whole fail-safe system doesnt seem fail-safe enough for me... and the ride bangs into the little stopper at the end a little too hard for comfort (apparently they turned it up to produce that effect... thanks guys). So aside from the first fall which made me scream like a little girl, X-Scream is just stupid. But kinda fun in a really twisted way =\

Being swung off a 866 ft building and trusting a brake to stop you.....Now that is a thrill! Great view they could lower the cost but its a ride of a life time.

Im struggling with numbers here. Ill leave it at an 8. The whole ride wasnt all that exciting, except for the good views. The only part that really scared me was when the arm started shaking up and down. This caught me off gaurd. I thought something was wrong! Besides that, the ride is just some gentle jumps and bounces. Not worth like 15 bucks.

Possibly the creepiest ride Ive been on. Definitely not for those with a real fear of heights. Of course, I had to sit in the front seat. I almost had the ride to myself, but fortunately, two others joined me. It had been awhile since Ive actually been nervous before going on a ride for the first time. Its nice to know that can still happen. You get in and from the moment the ride starts, you just hope and pray that those brakes work. Then theres another surprise, just in case you werent scared enough. Definitely not for the faint of heart.

Up until X Scream, I never thought I really had a fear of heights. This ride changed that. This is such a simple ride concept that is so unbelievably freaky it blurs the line between scary fun and just plain scary. X Scream teeter-totters on the very edge of the Stratosphere observation deck, almost 1000 feet off the ground. Riders ride in an 8-passenger vehicle that slides forward and backward on the teeter-totter as it tilts up and down. The ride begins by immediately tilting downward, so the car charges straight toward the edge, and it passes the point where you can still see track below you. All you can do is pray that you dont go flying off to your doom. It stops there for a bit, the platform tilts up, the car rolls back, but before even stopping we tilt down again and once again go hurtling off the edge. This happens one more time. The last time, though, we are dangling off the side for a long time, waiting and waiting for the platform to tilt up again, but it unexpectedly drops down even steeper, which should scare the pants off of anyone. It finally brings us back to safety. I rode this at night, when it was very windy and trying to sprinkle. That added even more to the dread. The first ride took place in the back seat, but I then rerode a second time in the very front. If you live for the rush, I highly recommend this seat. If you get weak in the knees easily, I say stay as far away from anywhere on this ride as possible. X Scream will forever hold a place as one of the scariest rides ever created.

OK, Im torn between an 8 or a 9 for this one. I did expect a little more. There are part of it that look a lot scarier to watch then the sensation you feel. I suggest you ride this first without fully knowing what will happen because the lack of surprise hindered my fun. Ride in the fornt seat though, hanging over the side of the tower looking down is pretty cool. Continue down for more info, but dont read on if you plan on riding and want to be surprised:

The best part was when the arm holding the cars started shaking and dropped a couple of feet giving the sensation that something was wrong. Now if you know that is coming its not very scary.

This ride is Extreme, I work there and it still scares me. There is nothing like hanging 30 ft over the edge on the 866 ft level of the tower, which is level 109 in the pod. You have to ride it at least once in the front. Its freaky when you cant see the track anymore. And all you see is the ground. Big Shot can still be better then this. If you are afraid of heights this is one that will scare you the most. Ive already ridden it 297 times. I will keep this updated for my ride count. Some people say its no big deal, some say it is not scary, some come back to the loading platform crying, Everyone has their own opinion about X-Scream, i for one love the attraction!
