As long as they rode it it's hard to argue with their personal opinion. Chances are he is giving it a one to mess with us or cause it scared him or something lame. Like Herc said there are just as many 10's that are not justified as ones so it cancels out. Also why does it matter if your ride is not ranked. Does the ride need to be ranked to make it better for you?

Yep, Scott, you just killed yourself. Again, until we come up with some stingier guidelines, the review will stand. I think Larry's first comment says it best

Oh, and he didn't give all Disney rides 1's, but he is probably just harsh.

I have a slight request. I think it has been brought up before, but is it possible to assign another person to the updating. I know that Shortcake is busy and all, and she does a great job when she gets the chance, but is there someone else that we can add to it that can take control when she is not around. I'm not saying everything and just knock Shortcake out of the seat, just to update the occasional important opening of a ride or something so that it can be good for reviews. Nothing much. Just once in a while. Thanks. It is just a thought. And great job with everything so far. And Mark, you don't really know me but nice to see you around again

I'd still like to know if it is possible for one's rating for each ride to show up when you look at one's Ride Tracker. I know it would help me be more consistent in my ratings to see how I rated all of a single type of ride/coaster in one glance.

You can Larry, when you click your profile, it should then display your user information, then your top 10 ride list, then your ride reviews where you can see what you rated each ride and how many comments you have.

Hope that helps!

That only shows a certain amount of them. When people have a large amount of reviews, it only shows like 50 or something like that and cuts off a great deal. The ones that are always at the top are the ones that have review comments on there. They are not all of a person's reviews.

My bad guys. I guess I didn't take that into consideration since I am still kind of new. Only 300+ posts as opposed to the 1,000-8,000+ posts of some of you vets. I haven't even reviewed all my rides I tracked yet.

no problem Godsentone, an honest mistake

what I envision is just as there is a check mark next to the ride you review, there would also be a rating

Herc, that's her job for now, and Larry, I wouldn't mind that myself, so hopefully Mark can code that one in (which I wouldn't think would be too hard on the fly like TPC)

and people question BFL reviews if he puts something in his Top 10 but doesn't give it a 10 rating. However, a quick view of all his ride will show that that is consistent with his rating system.

Yeah, People have been giving me a hard time because I've only given out 2 tens in my top ten list and the rest have been 9's.

I frankly wouldn't care what other people say about how I rate my experiences but I might tend to rate my top 10s higher than others b/c I am saying that these rides are more superior than others that's why they are on my top 10 list.

I seem to error on the side of being high, but I am consistent at doing that. Since I started my expanded ratings I find I give out less 10's.

Figure it is about time I chimed in.

First off, congrates to Joe and Danielle on the new job and responsablity. I have confidance that you will both do well with it.

As for removing reviews, I think first you should start with reviews from banned members. Those members were banned for a reson, and it takes a lot for you to get banned. Their opinions should bear no weight on anything on this site.

A few suggestions are:

IlIlIlIl
Shaw115
CP Guy

Thanks. I think someone cleaned out some of CP Guy's reviews, and I did a blitz the other day, and when I get time I'll go through those other reviews.

Again, if anyone sees a bad review just report it and it will be even easier to catch (unless it is someone notorious like CP Guy)

Not to be an ass or anything but... If CP Guy got banned for changing his reviews to ones, why is it acceptable for sts to be doing this. I don't want to start an arguement, just wondering. He did it out of spite and I have a feeling sts is doing it for the same reason.

Thanks for pointing this out, Scott. And yes, Bob - I've been cleaning up a bunch of bogus reviews - even one that I'd accidentally posted (you see, no one's safe)! I'm pretty much leaning in the direction of deleting the reviews posted by banned members - how do you feel about this, Bob?

For now I'm only deleting the reviews from banned members that are really bad (and likely bogus) or, in the case of CP Guy, reviews where the rating was changed and doesn't match the review at all. There are actually a couple of CP Guy reviews that I thought were ok but when I went back to find one, they've all been deleted so oh well.

That one guy has a ton of reviews, taht will take a while to clean out, and shawn had multiple personas so hopefully we can sort all of that out...

And Larry, I haven't even looked at GASM yet

Adriahna, you are good, you must have really cleaned house earlier...

OK, another edit:
If you come across any review with no text, report it or post a link in here. Example:

I've cleaned a lot of those out because they are useless to the site, but I doubt that I got them all. They are mostly from a long time ago (more often than not before my time)

You got it, Bob - I did go a bit whole hog with CP guy, as you noticed... I'll back off a touch. As well, I feel basically the same in regards to the "no comments" reviews, especially when they're either tens or ones - do you think it's proper to delete the in-betweens as well?

there was more to it than changed reviews and Mark has politely asked those that were here at the time to not bring it up again on these boards

10s and 1s are legitimate ratings so if those are being deleted when posted without a text review, all of them should be deleted to be fair. just be careful with the reviews section, you have to stay away from the subjective part of moderating these as much as possible (and yes, moderation is very subjective but there are extremes). theres no way any of us know whether a no comment review is bogus or not and to delete only 10s and 1s is, i think, borderline overmoderation that is prone to make too many mistakes. ive also come across reviews that have been 10s and said "great ride," those could be bogus as well. you have to start to ask, where do you draw the line? a complete sentance? a paragraph? i think its wise just to stick with cleaning up the reviews of members who are banned and reviews that are obviously bogus.

Sounds good, bb dg - I'm also glad that you mentioned the reviews of banned members. My opinion on that matter is that if the person ruined their own reputation, regardless how, their opinions and ratings of rides should be taken off. They messed things up for themselves here, so why should they have any say in this site's overall ratings?

Probably review comments coaster05.

bb, my beef with the no-comment reviews is that they contribute nothing to the site in regards to its intentions.
