Thunder Road was a pretty poor racer because one side won by a longshot each ride. Both ways were pretty rough. Forwards provided some really good air time, but backwards had almost no air time.

Thunder Road is a lot of fun! I found it more enjoyable than "RACER" at Paramounts Kings Island. Backwards is much more fun and a lot smoother than frontwards. Both are enjoyable! This ride contains a lot of airtime!

Thunder Road is a sit down wood O&B racing roller coaster. It was built in 1976. It was designed by C. Summers. It is 93' tall, it is 3,368' long. This is a classic out and back which allows you to go forwards or backwards like the others at Paramount parks. It delivers alot of air time and has alot of hills. Its alot of fun when its racing against each other. I prefer the backwards side myself because you cant see where you are going. This coaster is also in 2 states. It is fast, fun, rerideable, it has a large capacity, and a long duration.

It is hard for me to give this a complete grade becuase the "backwards" side was down the day I went. But since both tracks are identical it will be pretty close. I am sure that going backwards is very cool. Now for my ride. I am not a fan of woodies, maybe it is the old smelling wood or stinky oil smell, I dont know. Anyway, this bad boy is rough. It gets going pretty fast and has a strange layout with small hills in between the lift hill and a large hill at the the turnaround. This has solid airtime, but equal amounts of paintime. It knocks you around pretty good and the lapbar is especially painfull. I needed some Tylenol afterwards. Not the worst woodie but not that great either.

For some reason, I just did not have any great rides on Thunder Road. As Larry would say, it can take a few rides to appreciate a woodie, but after three rides (two forward, one backwards), I just didnt get a kick out of it. The air forwards was good, but not all that great, at least in my experience. The trains may have aided that, because they seemed pretty tight. The backwards ride was ok as well, though not as much air it still gave that uncertainty element to the ride. The ride was pretty rough, and the trains did not align to race, and even on the light day that I went, I would have figured that coordinating them wouldnt be too difficult (Guess again..). Overall, and ok ride, but thats just it... yet another OK Paramount roller coaster Note: My rides produced a headache, so that may have affected the rating adversely.

This woodie surprised me, I found it to be relativly smooth for a wooden coaster, and had good airtime, plus good speed. The little passage going up the lift hill was cute too. "Grit Your Teeth..........And Bear Your Load.........Enjoy Your Ride.........On Thunder Road!" I did enjoy my ride

Thunder Road is a classic racing coaster that shouldnt be missed! A little flat as far as airtime goes, but still a very fun ride (particularly when the trains are racing!). Backwards adds to the excitement.

I have only one request for the park...PAINT THUNDER ROAD WHITE AGAIN!

Forwards was okay but backwards was completely awesome! I loved that first drop so much. Fantastic airtime! A definite must ride.

I only got to ride it once as lightning storms were in the area. My assessment is based on going forward in the last row. I got a lot more airtime than I expected. I regret that I didnt get to ride it backwards
