It is a little tough to give this ride a 7 rating, because I really believe it to be more like a 7.5. I enjoyed an evening ride in the front row on this coaster. It is definitely an experience, if you have never tried a flying coaster before.
However, this design travels slower than many steel coasters, but also contains some elements that wouldnt be fun in other coaster configurations, so it kind of balances out. An overall respectable ride.
this is a very fun ride. i love going into the flying position in the station. then you go up and the pretzel loop. its really the only reason i like this ride. they take a picture during the pretzel loop which is retarded cause you face is wierd. the rest is fun because its like your flying but after the first turn it gets boring. this is a fun ride but should be more intense and longer.
This review happens to be my 100th review on TPC for anyone who cares
Superman: Ultimate Flight was a great coaster, and one of my personal favorites at Great Adventure. Looking back upon it, I cant believe I spent 3 hours in line for this thing with one train operation and blistering heat approaching 100 degrees. Whats more, Six Flags conjoured up the brilliant idea to "relieve" our heat exhaustion by setting up a common garden water-sprinkler and absolutely soaking everybody in line as if we were a landscape arrangement that was wilting under the extreme heat. Needless to say this "solution" sufficiently pissed off a large majority of those waiting in line who were pelted with freezing-cold water. After about 45 minutes, luckily, the water sprinkler idea was canned, and everyone in line returned to complaining about the heat. Anyways, I refuse to allow the negligence of Six Flags get in the way of this review
Back to the ride itself! Great coaster, as I mentioned before. This was my first B&M flyer and it was a fantastic experience. The fact that there is absolutely nothing beneath you as you climb the lift really helps get your blood pumping. The first drop was amazing, much better than what Vekoma Flying Dutchman models have to offer, probably due to the extremely comfortable seating on this ride. The Pretzel Loop, as pretty much every other review has stated, was the highlight of the ride. Absolute madness during the entire maneuver. The Gs pulled are simply incredible. The rest of the ride was good, but was lacking. It did, however, give everyone on the ride a chance to dry off from the water-sprinkler fiasco LOL
Very short but the pretzel loop was sick as hell.
It was the first flying roller coaster Ive ever been on, and the outcome was SWWWWWWWEEEEEET!!!!!!
fun coaster my fav part is the pretzel loop but everything else kinda stinks so thats y its a 7
I was expecting much more out of this ride than I got, but it was still fun anyway. Before riding Superman, I had never been on a "flying" roller coaster, and I thought it was going to be really awesome. Its cool to go down the first hill on your stomach, but after that I thought it felt just like every other roller coaster with inversions. It wasnt as intense as I expected, and it was very short. Also, the wait was ridiculous--the ride broke down so often, I had to wait on line for about two hours! After that, we barely had time to ride Nitro before we had to go home. This ride is unique and the flying feeling is interesting, but its definately not worth the wait.
NEW REVIEW 2/6/06 S:UF is part of the skyline of SFGAs massive collection of coasters, and its a fun ride. The chain lift was fun, and so was the drop. But the pretzel loop was twice as good. Its almost impossible to hear no screaming when riders go through that element, and I can see why they scream. It was highly intense, and you can feel the gs. However, the turns and inline twist werent intense at all. B&M should replace them with gut wrenching drops or more intense maneuvers. Last time I went to the park, I didnt get rid of that funny feeling from the pretzel loop until that night. Overall, it was fun, and one of four B&Ms at the park.
This ride was great. You really feel like your flying and that nose diving pretzel loop is very intense, but awesome. So what if it doesnt go fast after the pretzel loop. Its a fun ride anyway. A good addition to the park.
I love how youre flying on this ride. Its actually relatively tame...except for the pretzel loop. I have NEVER experienced anything like it in my life. The force is so great, I cant even begin to describe it. You have to experience it to believe it! The loading time is agonizingly slow, and its somewhat boring after the pretzel loop- so Ill settle with a 10 for the loop/flying aspect and -1 for everything else about the ride.
