that's funny I mentioned Silver Comet at least a half dozen times on the site but never in this thread. I guess it is more unknown than underrated. I'm on to my new pontification - Avalanche.

The Silver Comet was very enjoyable. I got in 10 rides today and liked it a lot. I can back that up as being a hidden gem.

Ozark wildcat looks fantastic. I've heard a few enthusiasts raving about, but it doesn't seem like it's getting the credit it deserves. Well, I'll know this summer...

Thing is any coaster that is good to fantastic is under rated if it's out side os a major chain park system. you'll notice crappy coasters liek Rolling thunder (SFGAdv) and Cyclone(SFNE) are talked aobut all the time. But, as soon as you remove it from those chains peopel seem to think the ride is not important.

Two roller coasters that i believe are underrated are both at cedar point because that is the only park that I have to. Mean Streak is way underrated, when i go there is never anyone in line for it and it is still a great ride even though cedar point has Millenium Force and Top Thrill Dragster. Magnum is the same there is never more than a 15 minute wait to get on and it is a really good coaster ranked number 3 in the world, it is basically a miniature Millenium Force, it is kind of sad that no one rides it anymore.

You only think Mean Streak is underrated because you haven't experienced a great wood coaster.

Magnum not really underrated it is still considered one of the Top 10 steel coasters in many peoples opinion (including mine). Even though the lines aren't long Maggie has great capacity and many people still ride. I would not be surprised if more people ride Maggie each day than MF.

People talk about those two coasters because, well, they are crappy. If people only talk about the big chain coasters, then why is there always talk about Phoenix, of Raven, or Cornball Express. These are very well known coasters that are not run by the big park chains. The same can be said on the other side of the coin. I never hear about the Big Dipper at Geauga Lake, or Wild One at SFA, both of which are excellent coasters, yet you hear very little about them.

Mean Streak is a pile of crap. it is slow, boring and rough.

Magnium, IMO, is overrated. There is no reason it should be listed as a top ten coaster. People are very centamental about it, but there are plenty of better rides out there.

Personally, if you ask me, the park that does no wrong, Cedar Point, is overrated.

Maybe larrygator is right maybe i havent been on a really good wooden coaster before but i dont think Mean Streak is a piece of crap and it is pretty fast and you can't say that it is boring but i know Magnum is a good ride but it dosn't get more people riding on it than ride Millennium Force in one day, MF normally has a 2 or 3 hour wait but magnum is normall 30-45 minutes on a busy day.

We are all entitled to our opinions. I talked to Cyclonic about Magnum when we were at Knoebels. I still love Magnum and Cyclonic thinks it has lost a lot over the years. To him there are just a lot of very good coasters out there that have passed Magnum by.

I kept reading rave reviews about Raging Bull and Viper at SFGAm and wasn't overly impressed with either even though quite a few people I really respect loved these rides.

CCTrack - I don't know where you live. I assume Ohio since you have only been to CP, but hopefully a trip to Kings Island or Kennywood are not too difficult for you to make in the future so you can try The Beast or some of the Kennywood wood line-up.

I would think that smaller parks like Lagoon and Bonfonti Gardens are also underrated. they are both good escape parks but you never hear much about them.

Then youLd love the Wildcat at Lake Compounce. Most people donLt like it cuz itLs rough (in the back much more than the front), but I happen to like that kind of ride as well. Woodies, especially older ones are made to beat the crap out of you. ThatLs one of the reasons we keep them around, and considering itLs one of the oldest operating coasters in the country, Wildcat gives one hell of a good ride (although it still canLt be compared to Boulder Dash

--------------------
The bad news is my coaster countLs too low to post. The good news is itLs expected to grow by 50% this season alone

ItLs in CT, only one of two real APs in the state in the better by far. Boulder Dash put it on the map, which if you donLt know already is my baby and also the best woodie on earth

I rode Viper again at SFGAM and I still feel it is very underrrated. I got 5-6 real good pops of airtime and it really maintains it's speed.

Forget that, he needs a ride in the back seat of the Williams Grove Cyclone. That'll set him right (if it doesn't kill him first).

With our similar taste in coasters, I got it on a bad day or a bad time in the day. I'll continue to kick myself in the backside for only riding it only once when I was in the park. That damn cold killed me!

I think you are confusing Williams Grove with Strickers Grove in Ohio

StrickerLs Grove is normally a private picnic park but it does open to the public several days a year.

Well, judging by the reviews Williams Grove Cyclone sounds like an awesome and rough ride but it sounds like if they dont do something to fix it up a bit, it wont be there much longer.
