This ride should be renamed "The Anacondas beginning and end" or, since Cyclone came first the Anaconda should be renamed "Cyclone Plus!"
Seriously, its a fun ride, sometimes too rough, way too short, but always on the to-do list for any Carowinds trip.
A very fun ride. An awsome underground helix at the end. And there is one major thing that makes this ride even more enjoyable. There is absolutely no line. You can just walk down the queving line and get on, which makes it easy to ride over and over and over.
I was pleasantly surprised by how well this thing performed. I dont think much of Arrows corkscrew coasters, but the Cyclone wasnt rough at all - or at least, more than what you would expect from a Arrow corkscrew coaster. I walked on it a few times, but Id say dont wait if the line is over 30 minutes. Its a fun ride, but nothing special.
Once again, call me a gluton for punishment, but I like Arrows. And I thought this Arrow was particularly nice. For its time it was an engineering marvel (4 inversions, WOW! lol). Now its a thing of the past, but its a thing of the past thats WELL maitained with good high gs and minimal headbang for an old Arrow.
The only coaster at Carowinds I disliked. I found it to have no points of interest throughout the ride. Worth riding for the count, but not one for a re-ride.
Good Gs into the two loops, the double-corkscrew-over-the-footpath is fun, so is the underground helix! Not big, not small, a good starter if you havent experienced an inversion. Theres something to it though, thats really fun, maybe the fact that its so close to the ground on parts! You can see people watching...!
I accualy enjoyed this coaster! It was smooth and had some good elements. I like how it goes right over the footpaths also. It never has too long of a line either. The trains are not very comfortable though. They are the old Arrow Horseshoe restraints. This coaster is my secod favorite arrow looper behind Loch Ness.
this scared me when i was little...now i laugh at it...its hardly thrilling but its worth riding.
I like this ride ok, but it is a bit too short. It was good for its time (1980) but it seemes uninspired. The loops have a great snap of Gs and the corkscrews were fun. The helixs tunnel was a great tuch.
While clean and well maintained, I just can fit right in arrow trains. The OTSR never go all the way down on me and the seats are just not built for people with long torsos and short legs. That said, though, it is better than most Arrow and Vekoma "standard looping" coasters.
