I was honestly expecting a lot more from this coaster. The layout was alright, although I think it could have done with more inversions and less turning slowly. The brakes are on incredibly hard and basically stopped the train mid-ride, which took away so much enjoyment. Definately worth a ride, however since the line is enclosed, be prepared to wait for a good while.
This coaster is a perfect example of an LIM coaster and what it can do!! I rode it with my cousin in the front seat and let me tell you, I personally would have given this a 10, but my head ended up on my lap after the first element! I think next time I ride it I will not sit in the front because I really wanted to enjoy the ride without my head on my lap, but that itself hasnt kept me from this coaster!! The only downside to this coaster is the extremely long line, but overall I love this coaster!
This is a cool coaster. Just like the one in Kings Dominion, the theming is cool, and the ride in the dark is cool too. Great ride.
This was a pretty good ride other than the severe head banging where i noticed many people after they exited were holding their necks. A decent ride for indoor and a little rough in spots.
I actually enjoyed the pre show video, but I guess if you saw it all the time you would quickly get sick of it. Im glad I never had to ride this with the OTSRs, bucause Im sure it would have been a killer.
This ride has really seen a ressurgance in popularity since those pesky over the shoulder restraints were eliminated. Vortex used to be my favorite steel coaster at PKI simply because Flight of Fear just hurt so bad. The launch is alright but the highlight of the ride is the end of the ride when you are circling the spaghetti bowl of steel and then you hit that final corkscrerw with plenty of speed and vengeance. This ride would be a 10 if it werent for the horrid capacity and the incredibly annoying pre-video.
It gets a four because it shots you out of the station. If not I would get this hell whole of a ride a 1. The lights made me half sick. The only ride I dont like at PKI. I would not ride this one again.
When it was new, it was great but its not really dark in the ride and after the launchs momentum fades, its really a pretty slow ride. Theres no hills or dips, just a few turns and a couple of loops. The theming for the ride is extremely awesome though. Walking through the giant UFO boosts this ride from a 4-6 just for theming. The only way it could be worse is if it didnt go upside down and there was no cool theming.
The thing I like about PKI is that it feels like a mini-universal studios. Some of its rides are well themed. This is one of them. Supposedly a UFO has crashed and its in a closed hangar. Some stupid person has opened the hangar to us, the public, and its our turn to go inside the crazy space station. I thought simply that it was going to be like a shuttle loop, one loop. I didnt think that that much could happen. I am very attempted to take my friend who is afraid of rides on this one. (Ill him its just a launch upwards! He hates roller coasters)
Ive only rode this once but i found it to be excellent. I enjoyed the theming and this was the first ride of this type that i rode. If i get a chance to ride it again i may raise my rating to a ten.
