...is if you bring your dog along. I was lucky enough to get in a last-minute trip to the park, on Sunday, May 9th, along with my husband and brother (who was new to the park, and loved it). Not having a sitter available to watch our dog, we decided to bring her along, knowing that the park welcomes responsible dog owners.

As if Knoebels wasn't enough of a blast, it was even better with our pet - she had a great time in the park, and we met all sorts of great people there, striking up really cool conversations. There were plenty of spots for our dog to rest in the shade, and lots of tasty treats for her to enjoy (particularly that roast beef sandwich at Oasis). Also, a bunch of other dogs for her to meet!

This really opened up a whole new dimension to Knoebels for us, and I have to say that if you have a dog, definitely consider bringing them along on your next trip. Of course, it pays to be wise - bring along plenty of water for them, and a spray-bottle to cool them down every hour or so (it was a hot day when we were there, and she really appreciated this). Also, have a friend or two along, so you can trade off who stays with the dog while you take turns riding. And no, Knoebels doesn't let pets on the rides (although the Pioneer Train was tempting...), so don't even try it.

The park was as glorious as ever, needless to say - but it was enhanced even more with our dog tagging along. What a great park.

I am not a dog person, but the next cat I get I am going to train to be on a leash so I can take my cat. That would turn a few heads

Im glad you had such a good time with your pet! We always take our dog since we camp over labor day weekend, and he seems to have a blast sleeping with me in the tent and stuff! Im not sure he understands it completely, but for him its like a home away from home, but better because we always have an outside campsite backing the woods and creek! Did you know some rides are pet-friendly? most notable is the pioneer train. Meiko seems to actually enjoy it, and the squirrels out in the woods haha. He really likes all of the attention (and food) he gets around the park.

What kind of dog do you have, primogen? I figured it would be pretty difficult to fit our greyhound (all 63 pounds of her) into it - I think it's great that your dog gets a big kick out of it.

I've seen a good amount of cats on leashes in my time, and most of the time they look like they're going to freak out at any moment...but hey, if you can manage it, I think it's a great idea.

We have leashes for our cats, but we only take them out on the yard and the woods (they're inside cats). They freak out if a car comes by. But they do enjoy going outside, we just don't want them to run away.

You know what I always get a kick out of? Seeing rabbits and ferrets on leashes - they really seem to love being outside. Really cool little animals.

what a great conversation starter. to get back to one of the greatest parks in the country i have this point. All those people who post the fact skooters review and have only posted a review for that ride it is experiences like adriahnas that so prove those other people have never been to that park. This park is just so amazing that no words can describe it. If they went there they would realize the injustice they are doing by posting fake reviews.

Well put, coaster05 - even with all of the praise-singing we do around here, Knoebels is truly an undiscovered gem - at least as far as the outside world goes. I live about 2 1/2 hours from the park, and I'm amazed at how few people I've told about it have ever heard of it. As far as this summer goes, I've made it my aim to introduce as many of my friends to it as I can. What a treasure of a park.

I live about an hour and a half from Knoebels, and the mojority of poeple in my school have been there and love it! about 1/3th of those people went there cause I recommended it them! I think popularity is spreading around our area also because the amount of stores that carry Pepsi/wonder bread with the knoebels advertisement on them is growing, and will probly just about be even with Dorney this year and Dorney is only about 45 mins away!!

you would think the travel channel stuff would also help. that is how i found out about it. I know people come from farther away then i do but i live 10 hours away and this will be my 2nd trip in 3 years. I also realize how people don't give the smaller ones a chance. I was 27 before i tried indiana beach and now i go at least once every year. Small parks are just so unique.

It's not a great park unless there is clear birch beer to finish off your day.

Well put, coaster05 - the smaller parks are where it's at, as far as real character is concerned. I love that when I'm at Knoebels, there's nil chance that I'm going to be bombarded with ads and cross-promotions. I think it's great.

I know what you mean, adriahna. I am goin to sort of relate this to Six Flags Worlds of Adventure. When it was a SF park, a commercial was on every 3 minutes, and nothing was personal at the park. Now, with Cedar Fair owning it, there are less ads, and more concern about guests experience. It's amazing how different SFI is from other parks, or park chains. I know this statement has nothing really to do with Knoebels, but it's an example of how parks can change for the better.

Knoebels is a kind of park that is how parks used to be before they all went commerical and all that. Free admission, low crowds, affordable and cheap food and other misc stuff. It's kind of like going back in time. Even though I wasn't around back then.

It's totally like going back in time - there are spots in the park (like along Roaring Creek, when the little colored lights are on it at night, and by the old Knoebels entrance gate, near the carousel) that make me feel like I'm on a 1950's movie set. It's very cool.

It could be better to some if they had free Pepsi, like Lake Compounce, but I'd rather pay for birch beer

the birch beer is so good and you eastern folks don't know how lucky you got it. last time i brought back 2 cases, this year im coming with the van. in northern indiana the only birch beer you can find is a dollar a bottle and its not nearly as good.

No one has posted in this thread for so long, I will start it up again. First of all, primogen18, do you work in Knoebels? If so, that's awesome. Second of all, A's to adriahna and Cyclonic for knowing their stuff about My Favorite Place on Earth. And finally, don't you guys think Knoebels should have the tagline, "The Best Amusement Park You Never Saw"? I mean, there is only, what, 3 billboards that state it's there, and timy billboards at that. I think it's a worthy tagline.
