The park will be adding to the water park in 2006. A 2 acres expansion utilizing the land the Mini golf is on will be removed for it. They will be getting 2 new slides. a family raft Slide and a tornado slide. They will both start from a 70ft tower.

When did they remove their old Haunted Mansion? Also, I like their water park addition and the slides sound fun, but the amusement park needed flat rides more than the water park needed water slides.

From what I've heard the Haunted Mansion (a Pretzel Dark ride) was removed in the mid 80s. It's not a Medical office. As you can see by mt statement above I'm not thrilled by the Tornado slide. The family raft slide is a nice addition but I would have proffered less money spent. a2-4 Twister slides would have cost half of the Tornado slide and they would have had money left over for some sort of park addition.

Those Tornado slides cost a whole lot because of the demand for them. The family raft slides cost a lot too. Dollywood's Big Bear Plunge family raft slide cost somewhere around $4 million if I remember correctly.

I don't think it will be any were near the size of Dollywoods. The entire Expansion is likely in the 2.5-4 million rang. wish is a waist. I'm not going to repeat myself regarding other possibilities. i think I've been clear about them. But half of the Tornadoes cost if the Unneeded material that forms the entire tornado.

But unfortunate we don't make there installation choices and we can make the choice to go or not. and other then funtown fest i likely will not be going to Funtown. it isn't worth the time and money.

Has Funtown talked about any future expansion plans, coasters, and additions other than this one?

Sorry to pull up an old thread but I figures I'd do this to keep things neater.

The park has put it's Galaxi coaster up for sale. they want 169 thousand for it.

Chances are you will be seeign a new coaster in 2008. The park in the past has talked about a spinning coasater. I would Imagen they woudl go with a spinning version since there more modern. I woudl prefer though a none mouse spinning coaster.

A lot of parks are getting rid of their Galaxis so this isn't really surprising. I don't mind them removing this because it can be replaced with something better.

Despite the spinning coaster already at Six Flags and the rumors of more coming for New England parks, I still would prefer a spinning wild mouse over a regular one. Though I doubt that it would happen, I think one of those L&T systems compact coasters like the Runaway Train at Gillian's would be an outstanding ride for this park.

I agree but they have more more around galaxi that they didn't use. I woudl hope they woudl go for something a little bigger.

That L&T coaster could easily fit in another area of the park.

I didn't know that the park owned the land over by the Galaxi. If Funtown really wants to put itself on the map they should look at what Holiday World. They started off with one amazing coaster (Raven), which Funtown has and then in a few years they added another world-class wooden coaster. I'd love to see another wooden coaster complimented by a kiddie coaster somewhere else in the park (near Dragon's Descent) to entertain the kids.

If they don't do that, Funtown no doubt would go for a family coaster because they would lack one without a Galaxi. Maybe they would add one of those launched booster bike coasters from Zamperla. They're definitely unique.

But not that Gr4eat from the last few reviews coming down the pike. I think it will be a family coaster something on the same range as Galaxy Simply upped in quality. I thin some sort of Spinning coaster is likely.

You figure those play areas are over a million and the slide addition this year was over 2. They have likely invested 5-7 million in that water park over the last 4 years. So I woudl imagine they could if they wanted to start really investing in the park. The water park will be getting a new addition soon also since the old slides are up for sale. I'll try and find the site later.

But the park needs to spend 1-2 million each year on just park additions. noticeable ones. even a new bathroom back by Excalibur with a theme woudl be very noticeable.

I remember you said Excalibur had some work done on the second half. Have you heard about if it has improved the ride much at all?

From the few TR's I've read yes. I will be at the park next month and I will definitely write a TR.

Same with me. I'm also planning on going to Aquaboggan. I haven't been there in 5 years so I'm interested to see what changes have occurred there.

Aquaboggan is a fun water park, but nothing exceptional and certainly not up to the quality of various other water parks. They do however offer one raft slide, a wave pool, a water dome, a kiddie area, 2 body speed slides, 3 mat slides, and the park's most thrilling attraction, Stealth, a giant halfpipe (the only thing there really worth talking about). They also have bumper boats, go karts, a slick track, and miniature golf for an extra fee. Mondays and Fridays are worth going on because admission is only $10 for everyone.
