Yeah that's what I was thinking as well that coaster news is always good news especially when it is a state-of-the-art coaster like SheiKra!

Course the long term safer bet could be BGW since there is less chance it will turn into a dud, plus most people have little fear of those rides like they do for coasters.

BGT and BGW both have four great coasters. Both parks have three water rides and great theming. However, BGT has Rhino Rally while BGW has DarKastle and Corkscrew Hill. Both CH and DarKastle seem better than Rhino Rally. Also, BGW has Escape From Pompeii, which is excellent and probably better than BGT's shoot-the-chutes ride. BGT's coasters however seem slightly better than BGW's, making the two parks pretty darn even.

Hey, I was just wondering does Busch have season passes for both parks? I'm sure they do, but it would be nice to do both parks for the price of admission for one.

I don't believe they have a deal like that. That would be nice.

I have something a little off topic here but maybe it fits:
I have an old friend I used to work with at BGW and he was talking about why Busch built DarKastle and not another coaster. We started talking about a few years back when BGW wanted to build a monster woodie. But the rich development about a mile away forbid it saying that it would cause too much noise. And that reminded me that they had nixed a possible woodie even further back. You see, Kingsmill is owned by Anheuser Busch. The houses back there are worth millions and they have PGA tournements at the golf course. All that ties into the fact that Busch will never put as much into Williamsburg as Tampa. They don't want to loose rich people buying their property. Kingsmill has so much pull, they forced BGW to put sand in the tracks of Alpengeist to make it more quite.
Anyway, I am just trying to clarify the major politics of BGW and why they will (unfortunately) never be able to add things we would like them too.

Yes, and they run $280-300 for two years.

Ok Thanks Bob.

War, I hear what you are saying about BGW and the PGA. Hey, when you have money like that, you kind of throw your weight around.

Off Topic:
Didn't they just have a golf tournament there?

Hey, I don't know if there is a thread or if the question has already been raised, but what do you guys think BGW and BGT will build next and is it customary that both parks build something new in the same year? How long will we have to wait for a new attraction? It may be predicated on how well Curse of DarKastle and SheiKra do, huh?

Yes the two parks usually coincide their rides. Going back to 93: BGW;Drachen Fire, BGT;Kumba, 96:BGT;Montu,97:BGW;Alpengeist,99:BGW; Apollo's Chariot,BGT;Gwazi, and in 2005 Tampa built Sheikra while Williamsburg built DarKastle. Going by that logic, there WON'T be anything big built for at least 2 or 3 years.

I would think both parks, especially BGW may go with some new flats, its been awhile since BGT for me so I'm not positive about their flats.

Yeah, it seems there is a trend in going back to the flats and woodies. The industry is going back to its roots which is cool.

BGW has been Jipt more then a few times in the coaster department. I mean it's easly the better of the two parks when it comes to theming and other rides. When it comes to coasters they just get the short end.

Busch Gardens Williamsburg just has too many variables that go into any decision. Many other parks tend to be in open areas with only commercial development around them, BGW has residential development as well and that makes a bad mix. The park has plenty of space it owns, they just aren't allowed to use it. I know that sounds crazy, but if you knew the area you wouldn't be surprised about it.

That sort of thing Dosn't suprise me. My local Park Canobie lake owns nearly another 100 acres and can't use it do t its zoning.

BGW has such potential to be THE best park, but it just isn't going to happen. It is really disappointing. Maybe they will add another coaster soon. It can be "Fear the Five".

I think another reason a wood coaster is yet to appear at BGW is because Gwazi has had less than stellar performance at BGT.

From what I understand, Gwazi just didn't take off like Busch had hoped it would, and now it is generally known more for complaints than compliments. Not only that, but Busch doesn't like the maintenance associated with wooden coasters (retracking, replacing wood, etc)

Then of course there is the noise problems with Kingsmill like said above.

Anyway, thrill rides don't make a park. I have no problem with Busch not building a new coaster anytime in the future, just as long as they keep the park top notch.

^ I absolutely agree. I never noticed the lack of coasters at BGW because the park is just so good as a whole. Would more rides be nice, of course, but I would rather have less rides and a better park, then have it turn into a poorly run version of SF.

I agree, I jsut get anoyed when BGT adds a coaster every few years and BGW has removed as many coasters if not more then they have at the park today.

I prefer BGT for coasters and wildlife sanctuary but I like BGV for shows, theming, and prettieness. I would visit both parks again. They are one of my favorite chains.
