BGW hasn't added anything minor since 1987. They have taken away plenty. A ride called Gauntlet that swung around in wierd patterns and split apart but it was taken out for who knows why.

I'm glad somebody else remembers Gladiator's Gauntlet...it seems that crazy short-lived ride is almost completely forgotten.

I was told GG was removed because it's ridership was too low. The common thought was that people were too intimidated by how the ride looked, and therefor were not brave enough to ride it. (Though it was actually pretty tame!)

Busch owned Cypress Gardens from 1989-1995. They sold it to the private investment firm sometime during '95.

ILve never been to BGW, but Montu is by far the best-themed coaster I have ridden. The park itself is well-themed. It is hot and humid enough to feel like a jungle, it has all the African animals and plant life, etc.

If Montu is better it must be really good since I found Alpengeist to be excellent.

Almost nothing anywhere touches the Chariot.

I love bgw. However, I think it's starting to go down hill. They haven't gotten a new coaster for quite a while. I loved drachan fire and mad maus was amusing to say the least. However, both of those were removed. I know they've added darkastle. But it just doesn't look as appealing as spiddy. I dunno. BGT now looks a bit more appealing.

Scott a park is a lot more then coasters. This is not necessarily directed at you but just a comment in general. A lot of people on this site blast SF because all they do is add rides and don't work on other things, but then people also complain if this certain park doesn't get new coasters every two years. We can't have everything. I have only been to BGW once but I would definately not say its going down. Sure they only had 4 coasters and only two I really liked but I didn't walk around all day pining for a coaster. I walked around and marveled at how amazing this place was. Course I also rate IOA, Epcot, and Magic Kingdom as 3 more of my five favorite parks and none of those are coaster havens either. The only park in my top 5 that has more than 4 coasters is Hershey.

My Question is: When is Busch going to build another theme park with a new theme?

If Six Flags ever unloads SF St. Louis it might make sense with St. Louis being Busch's home town (even though the park is 30 miles away), but it would take some work to get it up the Busch standards. The next park could be Americana themed.

I doubt Busch will build another theme park for some time, seeing as their last all-new one opened in 1975.

That would be tight if Busch Gardens had a park in St. Louis. It would fit perfect. You are right, it would need major love to get it up to those standards. Six Flags parks are just built different. I guess it's hard to explain.

No it's not, here is what you are saying in a nutshell:

Busch Parks are 1st tier and Six Flags Parks are 2nd tier--that means that the second always has to try to follow the example of the 1st, but SF hasn't quite arrived to that level yet. SFGAdv is the closest especially with the addition of the Golden Kingdom.

I guess it depends on how you look at it. Some would argue that Six Flags is better because they have more rides. Six Flags has such plain parks. You enter walk through a shopping area and then you go around a circle going on rides. That is about it at a SF park. And they are so dirty and unkept. I really felt wierd in MM. It felt so cheap and old.

I would say SFGADV is about the farthest thing from a Busch park. Newarea or not it is going to take awhile to get that place up there.

Well which Six Flags park is closer to BGW to you? SFOG maybe?

SFGAM usually has high capacity, most rides run everyday. The themed areas still look very nice and two are new in the last 7 years. Most customer service is very good also. I have only been to SFOG once but the time I was there it was awesome on all levels.

This park would have been my next guess. I am visiting SFGAm the week of July 4th. Looking forward to my trip.

I have been there 10 times and only once did i have a below average day. The last 4 times has been excellent, but it still is no BGW for total park experience, they do have a nice coaster selection though.

I noticed. My wife, who is from Chicago, loves all their coasters. She says they are better than SFOG's to her. I will be the judge of that though. I can't wait to ride Raging Bull, I heard it can't be missed.

My top between the two parks
1. raging bull
2. georgia cyclone
3. viper SFGAM Wood
4. mindbender
5. Superman SFOG
6. Great American Scream Machine
7. Batman SFGAM
8. American Eagle
9. Georgia Scorcher
10. Wizzer

They are pretty even for some reason I like Sup better at SFOG and Bat better at SFGAM. The only ride I really hate is Iron Wolf and others still enjoy it. Either way it is going to make some great additions to your coaster list.

Yes Sir! I was actually comparing the Busch Parks to SF parks, but I see what you mean.

Hey, I have a question? Which park seems like they will benefit the most from its recent addition? This may have already been discussed, but I want to know what you guys think now!

The slight change in theming and landscaping is what sets those two clones apart from each other.

I think the water park at SFGAM will be huge.

And for RC Genius BGW is still better then BGT so now were back on topic.

My bad I thought you meant the 2 six flags parks we were discussing. Probably BGT since a new coaster always seems to make bigger headlines.
