I have never felt so good as the season starts. After reading about and seeing what's been going on in various Six Flags parks across the country, from my own experiences at SFOG, to Great Adventure and even Astroworld, coupled with their off-season investments, I truly think that Six Flags is going to improve across the board this year.

Customer service was up at my homepark, and I heard the hospitality is improving elsewhere. Just look at Cyclonic's photos from Great Adventure, where they added security booths and park map bins (though SFOG actually had people handing them out and greeting visitors!), plus the park looked pretty clean, and he mentioned a couple of times where they had improved it. On top of that, they painted a couple of rides. I think that Six Flags is finally trying to do things right, which spawned from their off-season additions. Rather than add 20 coasters to the chain, they improved their water parks and aimed at pleasing the families and young children. To me, that's a great move, and if those families end up visiting again because of it (which I think may happen the way its been), Six Flags could be looking at a kick-ass year in the attendance charts and in the books.

I think this is all demonstrated in their first National Advertising Campaign in seven years

Anybody else "feeling" this year as being the year Six Flags turns it around?

I feel it is the year they start to turn it around. It will take time. They still have to actually bite the bullet and deal with unruly clientele

I don't get it, what is the correlation between bad weather and good service.

Yes, it will be a lengthy process, but I think that this will be the turning point if everything keeps the way it has been going so far. Who knows, they might actually record a black number on the bottom line by the end of the year

Remember how Six Flags blames down attendance on bad weather conditions?...

That was great BTW taco.

got it, that makes sense

I wasn't looking at "turning it around" just from an attendance standpoint.

Like I have said they have some great parks so how hard is it to do the things they do in the great parks. If they ever figure it out it could really hurt the smaller parks.

We can wait and see once summer comes, but I think it is starting to look up. I think service is on its way up, but again, I just hope this will continue on those long, hot busy summer days, which for some reason, I think it will

I like to be pessimistic Bob. You're really ruining my Six Flags negativity here. :nono:

He isn't just talking about good service. Read the last line of his big paragraph.

I said their service and sprucing up could lead to attendance and financial boosts

The only SF park I am probably goig to get to is SFA, and that park has a LONG way to go. Im sure other parks are better than that, but still, I tend to be a cynical person, so Im not about to give Six Flags too much credit

I am also a SF basher especially KK but SFOG and SFGAM are on par with the best of any chain.

Yes, then I said what if the weather is bad again...which was towards the attendance part - not the service portion.

I know Taco, I'm just making sure whoever reads this knows that I meant it in a broad sense, not just the turnstiles.

I do agree that SF seems to have seen many of theri problems and are trying to fix them. many of the park likly need some work. but they do seem to be off to a good start

You do tend to cynical, after all, you found problems with Hersheypark. You suffer from the Florida syndrome, you are used to big theme parks, and most parks are not like that. It is OK, just an observation.

Well, I can say first hand that SFGAdv is really working at it, and I think they are going to go further once the new crews get fully trained and are ready for the big crowds that park is going to get this year.

Next weekend SFA opens, and I am headed down there to check it out. I actually like the park. Sure, the layout sucks, as do the ride ops, but otherwise it is a very nice park. If they can change and improve ride ops, I think it will go a long way.

I'm a huge Six Flags basher, so I still have to experience the changes for myself. It kind of makes me sad that they are making things better, in some sort of a perverse way. However, good for them. But still, I have to experience it before I can really say anything. Everything that I have seen so far looks amazing though.

I suffer from NY syndrome. I love everything about parks, even if they suck.

I have the same thing Swimace does (Florida syndrome), and found SFGAm to be a fabulous park. It excels in pretty much everything I look at, and found it more enjoyable than all but 2 Florida parks. I know it's one of their better parks, but it's Six Flags nontheless.

It's just too bad most of the SF parks aren't that high of quality.
