For all of the great attractions at Islands of Adventure, Storm Force Accelatron definitely stands out as one of the park’s few lackluster attractions. Tucked away in a corner of the park next to the Hulk’s entrance, Storm is one of the few rides the park has added since its opening. I will start off by saying that this is probably the best themed tea cup style attraction I’ve been on excluding Story Land’s Cuckoo Clockenspiel, but while the attraction looks good, the ride it provides is definitely lackluster for not only the park, but for the genre in general.
One positive though other than the theming is that this was a walk-on all day during my visit, especially since most of the crowds seem to skip riding this in favor of the Hulk (and I certainly don’t blame them). Generally I prefer tea cups that I can manually spin, like Storm, but the cups just required far too much effort for my tastes to start really spinning quickly, something that doesn’t hamper the Mad Tea Party or other tea cups. Not only was spinning the cups a definite challenge, but the cycle was incredibly short as well, as I don’t think the ride lasted longer than a minute. Overall, Storm is worth a ride while at the park if you generally are a fan of spinning rides, but I’d definitely opt to ride the Hulk, Doom, or Spiderman an extra time over this flat.
Cool for a tea cup ride because of the effects and the theme.
But worth riding no.
The only positive thing to say about this ride is THE THEME.
it takes so much damn energy to even spin the cart thing.
So you end up not and even if you do its still EXTREMELY boring.
DONT RIDE IF YOUR NOT 4YEARS OLD.
If you ride it and it sucks the I TOLD YOU SO.
Would actually be better if they went faster were in a completely dark room with the effects being the only lighting and it spun easier then it would be descent.
Very weak tea cup ride in my opinion. I do like the look of the ride and the lighting effects were cool, but the ride was pretty poor. The cups were almost impossible to spin and this has a really short cycle as well.
I really did like the lightning effects but found the cups difficult to spin. Is a big fan of spinning tea cup rides and would have rated this higher if they had spun more easily.
In the end I think IoA could do so much more with the X-Men franchise than this ride, parades and meet and greets.
This was just a really lame attempt at a teacup ride ugh
Yes, I enjoy tea-cup rides, but this one was a disappointment! The attempt to make it exciting disappointed the ride (use of strobes and blaring music). The wait was about thirty minutes. This ride wasnt worth it. Id say replace it and put in a Top Spin or HUSS Frisbee. On the otherhand, it does attract the younger aged crowds (families).
I rode because I enjoy completing parks and other then the Pterdon Flyers I have done that now. However even my huge love for Storm can do nothing for this absolutely awful flat ride. I am not a big spinning fan but this is just lame to the other end. No forces, short cycle, and almost impossible to spin the car. simply terrible. Not even a IOA fanboy could find something good about this.
This the best "Tea Cups" ride ever!:trophy: Its really well themed, and encorperates the feel of a scrambler with the feel of a spinning cups ride!
A tea cup ride. I dont know if it happens all the time, but we had a guy on the speaker encouraging us to spin faster and cracking goofy jokes. Just a little extra touch to add to my fun.
The theming and nice forces this ride provides prevent me from rating it too low, but it still lacks a lot of the uniqueness that IoAs rides tend to posess. I have never ridden it when I ride was that long, thankfully, because its definitely not worth a long wait, especially with Hulk and Spider-Man on either side of it. If the line is long, save the time for one of IoAs numerous other thrill rides - youll have a much better time, and experience a much more unique ride.
