Review of Storm Force Acceletron @ Islands of Adventure

For all of the great attractions at Islands of Adventure, Storm Force Accelatron definitely stands out as one of the park’s few lackluster attractions. Tucked away in a corner of the park next to the Hulk’s entrance, Storm is one of the few rides the park has added since its opening. I will start off by saying that this is probably the best themed tea cup style attraction I’ve been on excluding Story Land’s Cuckoo Clockenspiel, but while the attraction looks good, the ride it provides is definitely lackluster for not only the park, but for the genre in general.

One positive though other than the theming is that this was a walk-on all day during my visit, especially since most of the crowds seem to skip riding this in favor of the Hulk (and I certainly don’t blame them). Generally I prefer tea cups that I can manually spin, like Storm, but the cups just required far too much effort for my tastes to start really spinning quickly, something that doesn’t hamper the Mad Tea Party or other tea cups. Not only was spinning the cups a definite challenge, but the cycle was incredibly short as well, as I don’t think the ride lasted longer than a minute. Overall, Storm is worth a ride while at the park if you generally are a fan of spinning rides, but I’d definitely opt to ride the Hulk, Doom, or Spiderman an extra time over this flat.
