This boat ride/dark ride is slow, fun, rerideable, has nice decorations, has a large capacity, and a long duration. It is a very old ride and very nostalgic.

Personaly, I really enjoyed Garfields Nightmare. They took advantage of what could be done with 3-D graphics. Of couse, im a softy for Garfied, so I enjoyed this ride more than most. Im suprised that so many people disliked the ride, though. The Old Mill has been changing its appearance for decades, but its still the same Old Mill its always been and always will be. The way I see it, it makes sense that the Old Mill was completely re-done again, much like the times before it. Who knows, within a few years, it may become the origonal Old Mill once again. For now, though, Im going to enjoy Garfeilds Nightmare the way it is, because some day, It will change, repating the cycle, once again, that has gone on for over a century.

This was the first ride that went on when we got to Kennywood and I was kind of hesitant about going on because I had heard nothing but horror stories since theyd shifted over to the Garfield theming (and not just because its his nightmare...mostly because theyve turned the ride itself into a nightmare). But you know what? I still wanted to go on it because at its core, its still The Old Mill, right? Same boats, same structure...I figured Id still get some feel for its former self as seeing what it used to be on a Discovery channel special excited me. But it was nothing but crap.
Marketing for Pepsi products within the first three seconds of the ride, lots of stupidity, comic strips painted up on the walls...WHAT!?!?
It was too stupid for me to comprehend and then the 3D glasses were not very great either (I just personally do not like wearing those on most rides unless its worth it and in this case, it was not!)
Id call this heartbreak because if this had been The Old Mill (and I kept trying to imagine it as we rode through), it would have been about 80 times better even if it had still been lame. This was just awful and aside from the little thrills of riding in the same boats through the same structure...I wouldnt recommend the disappointment.

My 2 rating is based on only being on this as Garfields Nightmare. It was not worth the 45 minute wait. Even the two park employees who for some reason were on the same boat as me were making fun of it.

it is no longer the old mill. it is now called garfields nightmare and it is the stupidest ride in the world. No lie.

Not good, not bad.. I havent been on the Garfield version yet, dont know if I will.. i really dont like Garfield. KW REALLY needs some scary rides, not like the gold rush, or even that old La Caschet or whatever, some REAL SCARY rides!

This only gets a 3 and not a 0 is because of the nostalgia attached to it. In fact they probably shouldve left it looking nostalgic on the inside too. The Garfiled theming is good for maybe anybody 6 or under. Its supposed to be 3D but its really not. Tons of neon paint in here but there was barely any movement of the characters. The old Smurf Boat at Kings Island was much better when it was still running.

A classic fun dark ride. I hope they havent ruined by adding garfield i believe. I could be wrong on that assumption. The fact that it is over 100 is amazing. Great ride.

old but a cool slow ride

The Old Mill is a piece of amusement park history that still lives today! This is a simple dark ride that may not be scary or frightening, but theres just something special about its unique, corny charm. Very nostalgic and in unbelievable shape for a ride thats 100+ years old. A classic ride!
