Review of Italian Job: Stunt Track @ Kings Island

I was glad that Kings Island FINALLY got a brand new roller coaster since nothing spectacular had been built in that deparment since Reptar which was mainly geared towards the kids. Anyways, I finally got the chance to go ride it and see what it was like for myself after a few weeks of its operation. Let me tell you, the capacity for this ride is horrendous. Sure, any new attraction will get extremely long lines but this was just rediculous. Then I remembered that these creative little Mini Cooper styled trains only could take 12 riders at a time and that day imparticular was terrible seeing that only one train was in operation. After waiting in that line for about an hour, I was getting more and more eager to try it out. I knew it would be nothing frightning as that is what it is not designed to do. It is a heavly themed ride based after the chase scene from the Paramount film the Italian Job. Within that hour of waiting I got to see a lot of the elements that the coaster contained and I also heard and saw a lot of the effects this ride had in store. Finally I found myself waiting at the front of the line and the line tenent assigned which row of the train you would sit in. I sat in the front car in the second row. The trains themself were quite comfortable and of course had only the need for the use of a lapbar which is similar to that found on the Flight of Fear seeing that this is from the same designer, Premier Rides. The cute little "Minis" even had their own little doors that the ride ops had to close for you. After they made sure everyone was locked in, "all clear" was called over the innercom and the 40mph launch sent the little train flying up a tight intense helix. In fact that thought to be slow 40mph launch was quite intense seeing you went up a helix at that speed. After the helix you dodged around a bit and went through the "streets". You soon found yourself in the area where the train stops and the helicopter "shoots" at you and real explosive and fire effects take place and even a little bit of water from "broken" pipes drip on you. The train launches off again and you go through the subway in total darkness and then find youself going through the billboard into the "splash" zone ( mind you you do not get wet its just a visual effect ) After that the ride concludes itself and you find yourself off sooner than you know it. Is the ride fun?? Yes, in fact it is fun. Worth the long wait? Only if you have never ridden it before but if there is a short wait ride it again and again because you will love it each time. Good ride? Yes it is, its a good addition to the park other than I cannot understand why Kings Island will not get the picture that they need another people eater like Vortex that has a higher capacity. The ride does in fact have three trains, but of the 2 times I have ridden it, I have found the 3rd train on the transfer track. I am not sure if there is a problem or not as I have heard, but if not they need to start using it because of the long lines. Overall, a great ride, fun for the family and has a great launch and great theming, but is just a little on the short side and needs the use of its third train to help ease up the long lines. With that, I give this cute little coaster an 8.
