Review of Disaster Transport @ Cedar Point
-1 Rating Posted by: adriahna on 7/2/2003 4:15:00 PM
Although the indoor AC treatment was a real plus, I really think this ride lost a great deal of its appeal with this new "theming" - my brother and I were baffled, until he summed it up in about the best way possible - "This is a space shuttle. Welcome to Alaska!" I really preferred it in the sun, able to see the course ahead. Really wish Cedar Point would think about replacing the clumsy "sleds" with traditional Flying Turns trains - this would be so much better.

I dont understand how this ride was better before it was enclosed. I never rode it before it was enclosed, but all the special effects and themeing inside have to make the ride more exciting.

Its a little hard to explain - just that it was really cool to see the layout ahead of you - the unusual "bobsled" nature of the ride is very cool, and I think its a shame that riders cant see it anymore. It was a completely different sensation than riding on regular coaster trackage, and visually recognizing the uneven flow and movement of the free-wheeling cars was a huge thrill in itself.

I liked Diaster Transport mainly because you couldnt see what was ahead of you, as it made it more exciting. I can understand though how you wouldve liked to see the layout ahead of you. I agree with you about the trains, but theyd have to redo the station, wouldnt they? Great review though.
