Well I waited and waited and waited. Finally, the time came and I was off the the USA for the first time ever! Ok, so it was with the parents, but that worked out well because it cost me a lot less . I shall finally be able to review some rides on this site! Anyway we went round the south west for a bit, saw Vegas which was completely over the top which we all loved. And yes, I did all the rides: Speed, Manhattan Express, both Stratosphere rides, Canyon Blaster.

I took everones advice and went on the High Roller before the Big Shot- the HR was ok, but the Big Shot... that was just unbelievable. It sent my tea loving United Kingdom ass into overdrive. I must have bought about 15 re-ride tickets, it was just awesome. The Canyon Blaster was a pleasant suprise, the double loop was fun, only cost $5 aswell. Speed was brilliant, I got the unlimited rides thing which evened out the cost. the Manhattan Express, in my opinion the most enticing ride in Vegas (seeing it from the strip for the first time is pretty amazing) was a bit of a disappointment. It was pretty slow, and quite an uncomfortable ride. The only good thing was the dive loop, but it was hideously overpriced.

A bit of a calm down seesion follwed in the Grand Canyon and other places in the Northern Arizona/Southern Utah area... then came the real reason you clicked on this topic... Six Flags Magic Mountain!

I had been looking forward to this so much, I was just so excited. It all seems like it happened ages ago, even though it was only 3 days ago. We went on Wednesday, a few days after your Labour day. TIP- next year, do the same! The park was totally deserted. I knew it would off season because everyone was back at work/school, but I tell you what, I couldn't believe our luck. Every single ride was walk straight on at some point.

A bit of bad news to start with: the only possible day we could go was Wednesday, so X was closed. It sucked. Also, Deja Vu was closed. Didn't bother me too much when I saw the other ires though. Also, another bad thing: I was hoping to meet a few coaster enthusiasts to talk to here in the queue lines about coasters in the USA. But since there were no queues, I didn't get to meet any!

I'll start with my least favourite ride: Psyclone. It was a horrible, uncomfortable, violent ride, I never want to even see it again. Ok now that's the bad stuff out the way. Now for the good stuff (remember: you may be used to these amazing rollercoasters, but living in England I've never seen anything like it).

Got to the riddlers revenge. Got extremely excited. Started queueing. Got to the loading area. Walked straight onto the ride. It was the first real rollercoaster I went on there, so naturally it completely blew me away.

Went to Batman the Ride, which there was a 2 minute queue for (longest queue of the day). This coaster I thought was similar to the Nemesis we have in England at Alton Towers, but after I went on it, I thought it was very intense. Still good though.

Went on Superman the escape afterwards- I was suprised to find this was my favourite ride in the park. I just loved it. I went on again and again, walking straight back onto the car each time. Good times, I think went on it 8 times in a row before we moved on to Scream.

I was expecting great things from scream, and it didn't disappoint. I'd never been on a floorless rollercoaster before, and it was great. The first drop and loop was amazing, so was the dive loop. Actually, all of it was great!

Went on Goliath afterwards. And yes, the Helix was intense like you've all been saying- loved every second of it. The first drop was insane. Great coaster.

All the other coasters were pretty good, but those were my favourites. I still can't believe how lucky I was getting to walk straight onto rides like Scream, Riddlers, Superman and Goliath. Amazing. Got loads of merch at the end of the day, and got hit on by the girl behind the counter. All in all: Best day ever

Glad you had a good time! How many days did you stay in the US? How do these coasters/parks compare to the ones you've been in the UK, like in cleanliness, friendliness etc?

Stayed 2 and a half weeks. The coasters there compared to England are off the scale, bigger, faster, longer, more inversions, more g force, nicer looking, more impressive, and there are a lot more of them! I thought the parks here were probably a bit cleaner, but there is less themeing here than in England, here they really do go overboard with themed areas and stuff. As far as friendliness goes, I could talk to anyone at the US parks and they were friendly. In England its quite a bit different: everyone keeps to themself a lot more, and is less welcoming. People at the US parks I found were more laid back than they are in England (obviously I'm doing a lot of generalising).

I went to Knott's aswell, I thought the Xcelerator was absolutely awesome, I can only imagine what the Top Thrill Dragster must be like (Cedar Point next on list!).

Did you go to any other parks besides Six Flags, Knott's, and the coasters in Vegas?

Ouch! no x. Sorry you missed that. So hit on by a employee eh? Gotta love it when that happens.lol. It's better when it's a lifeguard. Cars are bigger because we are fatter.lol.Roads are bigger because we can't drive.lol. And you must have gotten lucky. CA is generally an unfriendly state. I know as I live here. Californians generally look down on a lot of people. And usually keep to themselves without talking to a ton of people.

yeah, i think i probably found it friendly because (ive heard) that americans are particularly welcoming to english people (when they have finished hecling our accents!).

in answer to big red- the only other park i went to was disney california adventure because it was only a block away from where i stayed, and id heard it had a decent coaster. the coaster was ok, but wasnt as good as everyone had told me it was. plus someone was sick on it when i was on there, luckily i was at the front and escaped it!

oh, one other thing- flashback was closed at sfmm. did i miss anything? (i think i know what the answer will be, but just checking)
Also, is deja vu any good?

toaddy- i had no problems with frienliness in california in my 2 week trip. but the cant drive part is generally true. what really amazed me was the motorcyclists.
to pappas- sorry to hear you didnt ride X. It really capped off a great trip for me a few weeks ago. as for deja vu, I like the clone at SFOG, but since theyre the same, i didnt mind too much

Deja Vu is right behind X. No you didn't miss anything on Flashback. Too much headbanging for someone that's never been on it and doesn't know how to ride it. jrehanek you got lucky to. I see it all the time. We are rude to everyone. You have no idea about the motorcyclists. Should see them in grid lock on the freeway. They go off speeding down through the cars.
