Next week (5/13) I'll be making my first trip to the 'Center of the Coaster Universe'. I will have limited time (10AM - 7PM) as I'm flying out there and flying back the same day to save $$. I don't plan on riding everything. I religiously skip flat rides, shows, etc. And out of the 16 coasters there, I'm really only concerned with riding 10-13. Any tips to make my 9 hours of coaster riding as efficient as possible will be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Start in the back of the park with MF, and work you're way around the park left to right. I usually always ride MF, Raptor, Mantis, Magnum, TTD. These are my top 5 coasters. I went this Saturday on opening day and the lines we're about 45 minutes long per ride and I rode all the coasters in the park. At a park this size you should spend 2-3 days. You can't ride them all in a day. If you go during the week it's slowest usually on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Good Luck with your coaster quest and I hope you have fun. This is my home park. Where are you from?

Start your coaster riding day with neither Millennium Force or Top Thrill Dragster since they're the most popular rides in the park. I'd try to go to TTD first in order to sneek a ride in before its unpredictable breakdown occurrences. I should've done that when I went to CP last year & I wouldn't be bashing on TTD right now, but as it stands, I STILL HATE TOP THRILL DRAGSTER! If TTD does break down for you though, ride MF first since it's more reliable & you come off the ride with a great experience anyway. Try going for the front seat because of its magnificent 310 foot view just skyscraping the whole park before you take that 300 foot drop at a 80 degree angle reaching speeds of 92 m.p.h. After Millie, I'd ride the Mantis since it's right across MF & you'll be able to ride one of the best stand-up twister coasters around. After Mantis, head towards the back to ride Mean Streak since the line won't be long. After Mean Streak, here's how the rest of the major coaster order should go:

Gemini
Magnum XL-200
Wicked Twister
Raptor
Blue Streak

That's all I can tell you right now. If you want to ride coasters like Cedar Creek Mine Ride, Wildcat, Iron Dragon, Corkscrew, & Disaster Transport, you can squeeze some of those coasters in yourself because when I went there, I was mostly concerned about the major coasters there. I rode on every single coaster except for TTD (which ya'll should know why because of my everlasting stories about its unreliability issues), Jr. Gemini, Wildcat, & Woodstock Express. I hope that you'll have an exceptionally thrilling & astounding time at "America's Roller Coast!"

Thanks a lot for the tips guys. I'm excited to see if this park lives up to all the hype. The first coaster that I ride at CP, will make my 100th new coaster since I've been visiting theme parks. I guess if TTD is running when the park opens I'll hit that first since it's line is probably the longest. If not I'll do MF first.

RCGenius - Did you ride all of the coasters in one day?

coasterwom - I'm from Northern VA, near DC. My home park was PKD growing up. But my favorite park in the area was and is Busch Gardens Williamsburg. I've done all the major parks in the East and I'm starting to move westward.

Does anyone know if CP offers a speedpass of some kind??

No CoastrGlxy. I didn't ride all of those coasters in just one day. It took me two days to ride all of those coasters, but I did ride on 10 out of the 16 coasters in one day, so anythang's possible.

Cedar Point eliminated their limited Freeway Pass system this year.

It is possible to get all coasters in one day but you have to be lucky. It is unlikely that early in the season (TTD is very unpredictable in the cooler weather).

CP used to let you ride a coaster as long as you were in the queue before closing time. It is always good to get on the MF line right before they close the queue.

Thanks for all the tips guys. I went last Saturday and hit 11 out of 13. Not bad considering the weather and the closings and temporary shutdowns. I'll write up a trip report soon.

to all of you above me TTD has ran really well this year. Infact a lot better then MF. TTD really has only been down due to rain / weather.

Go on a sunday. Sunday is the lightest day of the week. Most of the tourists and locals are gone on sundays. We only waited 10 minutes for dragster... at 1 in the afternoon!!
