Which roller coaster do ya'll think will be the #1 playa in the amusement park industry for 2006? I really think that the Voyage at Holiday World will come out on top b/c can ya'll imagine a coaster w/24 seconds of airtime? That's just freakin insane ya'll. I also like how the layout of the coaster is b/c it covers a lot of terrain, which makes for great landscaping. It'll also have a lot of tunnels too which will boost up the excitement & fun factor even more. If only I could go to Holiday World to ride that, Raven, & Legend.

Well, I think that it is The Voyage also, but there are a lot to consider.

For me, the ones that it will come down to are El Toro and Goliath (SFOG) since those are the two big name coasters that I will be riding next year. Screw Italian Job. I am more excited about El Toro than I was about Kingda Ka so it should be a good little battle between those two for me.

Good point Hercules. Next yr., I'm definitely going to do whatever it takes to get myself to Six Flags Great Adventure. It's mostly b/c I've never been to a Six Flags park yet & it seems to be the best one that I can go to in terms of distance (I'm from Harrisburg, PA). I'll be begging my parents to let me go out there on my own once I get my driver's license in April. El Toro really makes me want to go there more, even more than Kingda Ka.

Out of all the roller coasters being built in 2006, I think the Voyage will be the best coaster. It has a very long layout, tons of air-time, colossal drops, looks smooth, has a great helix, and more. The Voyage just edges out El Toro and Goliath (Six Flags Over Georgia).

Why don't you wait to see all the coasters for 2006? There's still a fairly large B&M that has yet to be announced. As for me, if I had to pick right now I'd pick the only coaster this year that coasts 100 million dollars to build. Both Goliath coasters look awsome too.

Swimace are you talking about Expedition Everest? I too am excited about that, but not as excited about when it compared to other coasters coming out in 2006.

2006's roller coasters definitely look better than 2005s roller coasters in my opinion.

Don't get too caught up in the speculation. We were saying all of this stuff last year at this time and we were let down. The only reason we can say that these coasters look good now is because we can compare them to the let downs of 2005 and think that these are going to be amazing. I think they will be great too, but I'm not going to let myself be let down again.

I agree with Swimace, but that is only one that we really know of. The majority have been announced. It could be pretty sick though.

Goliath for steel. Of course

I don't think 'anticpiation' is the best word in this cae, so I'll use 'interest'. I am also very interested in Kentucky Rumber. I'm also interested in Speed Monster, that first inversion thing that looks like a pretzel loop might be awesome. I can't wait to ride it and see if it tops SR

To me, expedition looks ok. So did the Mummy, if it can approach the Mummy then it will be ok but I have a lot of doubts about the ride. Needless to say I won't be going out of my way to ride it next season.

Even with Tatsu being announced this week, I doubt it will top Goliath for me. Its hard to overcome the homepark bias and personal affection towards B&M hypers.

I wasn't let down by 2005, SheiKra was awsome. Although I can see how it would suck to have Dorney or PKI as your home park for 2005.

I think Black Mamba looks really great, both in terms of theming and intensity. Of course, I think La Ronde's new edition will be great too, it may just top the list. (hey, you never know)

Western Playland is under construction as we speak. The claim is to be the biggest and best amusement park in New Mexico. We know Cliff's is a tiny park that is home to the N.M. RATTLER. If a coaster is constructed for the 2006 opening season I'm betting it will be a whopper. If one isnt built now, it wont be long. In any case, keep your eyes and ears open for news from Western Playland New Mexico.

I had a great time at Dorney this year. It didn't suck for me. I get what you mean though with the whole Hydra thing. It is a little overblown though, and I'll admit that I am one that contributed to it.

I don't really know what to think of Black Mamba. I'll have to wait and see the finished product. If we are going with coasters that are overseas, I kind of think that Speed Monster looks pretty good. Also, Superman The Escape in Australia looks really good too.

I'm curious to see what the B&M flyer in China looks like.

Hell, I'm just curious to see what the B&M flyer in the United States looks like let alone the one in China.

Golieth at SFOG will likely be a big hit as well as Voyage at Holiday world. Everest will likely be a big hit as well

For some reason I'm worried about downtime with Expedition Everest. There is just something about something of that magnitude and Disney that just gives me a funny feeling in my stomach.

I think that Goliath is a given considering the reputation of the other B&M mega coasters out there.

Voyage though, eventhough it is being made by a company that is making a name for itself, it is a big coaster and we all know what sometimes happens with big wooden coaster (I believe Larry said something like that in another topic). It does look like a great ride, but I don't want to get too far ahead of myself with it.

Holiday world seems to be on top of things with there rides.

Everest I can see your point. Nre track system, new ride set up, allot of mechanical thanges, and a hight neither Disney nor Vekoma has gone. I guess will have to keep an eye out for that one.

Sure, Holiday World seems to be on top of things considering they have some good, highly rated rides, but with a ride of that magnitude, you don't know how it will react short term or long term. Look at wooden coasters like Mean Streak, Son of Beast and Hercules (of course all of those coaster have some tie to Curtis Summers , but anyway) those are large wooden coasters that didn't turn out to be what people thought they would. Sure, they were pretty much poorly designed and we don't know if Voyage is or not until it is finished, but you just never know. Think of what was being said about those other coasters that I mentioned when they were being built back in the day

I dont think down-time should be expected because of the track and the height, but because of the massive effects that will be involved in the ride, specifically the Yeti.

I think all the new coasters for 2006 have something to offer any enthusiast. I would like to go to HW and ride Voyage, SFGAdv and ride El Toro, and SFOG and ride Goliath, I also would like to ride Expedition Everest, and Beech Bend's new woodie in Ky.

I think El Toro will be the biggest "playa" this year.

What I don't get is that I've noticed that the Flying Turns isn't getting much attention even though the last one was built in like the '30s!

That can be a good thing though. Knoebel's is usually on the down low anyway. It just brings more charm to it all.

Flying Turns isn't a big bad record breaker or anything, so those rides tend to have less attention drawn to them anyway. I'm sure it will be exciting when it opens though.

I am actually looking forward to the patriot. Why? It's the only huge new coaster I'll be riding this year.

Nevermind, I'll actually hit tatsu later this year.

If I had to choose between El Torro and Voyage, I think I would have to give it hands down to El Torro. Even though it doesnt get the quantity of hills that Voyage has, I think it looks like the better overalls ride. GCI's look great this year too, but a different ride experience that is hard to rate next to Voyage and Torro

If I had to choose between El Toro and Voyage, I'd pick Voyage, but it would a tough pick. I just think that it looks like a more unique coaster (despite El Toro's wicked first drop), and the better balanced coaster overall. Both will hopefully be great though.

One coaster that I don't feel is getting enough attention is Black Mamba. I know a lot of this probably has to do with the fact that it's overseas, and few of us here will get to ride it. But it looks like a fantastically unique coaster, and when many seem to be saying it looks similar to Nemesis...we all know how popular that was when it opened, and remains today.

I personally think that El Toro looks better and I'm really excited to ride it, but I would go on Voyage first just based on the fact that I am more interested in seeing what Gravity Group provides rather than an Intamin wood.

^speaking of which, any guesses out there as to toro opening date? looking over the GAdv webpage it appears they have plenty work to do. i somehow sense "opening spring 2006" is a little bit optimisitc.

Well, remember, the spring technically ends June 20th So maybe it is possible to technically get it open by spring.

I have been saying all along that they have to get this open by Memorial Day because it just seems smart, but looking at the fact that they have not even started placing track in the infield of Rolling Thunder, I'm completely baffled.
