50s and rainy is a lot better than 40s and raining like when Cyclonic and I froze out butts off two years ago on Cyclone opening day.

i'm now the proud holder of round-trip e-tickets for the chinatown bus, b-more direct to 88 east broadway, under the manhattan bridge near the heart of ch-town.

which brings me to my question. how's this gonna work? a few of you i could spot in a crowd without much effort, but some of you are a mystery to me. time? place?

Was about to ask the same. Hey, Nathan, you've done this event - is there a specific spot near Astroland where we can all hook up?

Right by the Cyclone would work. I think it is like the first few hundred get a free ride on the Cyclone, if I remember correctly. Then we can get wristbands.

I am sure we will get it all figured out.

All I know is that I'm just along for the ride. I have a good tour guide.

The opening ceremonies are scheduled for 11:30 a.m. I would suggest getting there no later than 11:00. Personally, I'll be shooting for 10:30.

i will be a good bit later than that. after 1pm likely. i creep through life, seldomly anywhere on time.

EDIT: i have the radio coordinates of adriahna, which will help hone in on her, at least. for the rest of you, a tip on spotting me: i no longer look like a chechnyan terrorist. i'm slightly cleaned up now. now i give off the air of the type of young college professor who is always ridden by guilt because he has affairs with his precocious students.

We'll be looking for you after noontide, hrrytraver, but for anyone who wants to get in on the $12.99 wristbands, they're telling the ACERs and guests to be at the ticket booth between 10:45 and 11:15.

Very good then. Herc, I'll pick you up at 7:30. Adriahna, we should be there no later then 9:30, probably earlier. That should give us plenty of time.

Beautiful, Cyclonic - I'll be looking for you guys at that point. From there, no worries getting to public transit. SERIOUSLY cannot wait to see all of you.

I'm fairly sure that I'll be able to make it. Are there any ACE'rs left that would be nice enough to make me their guest?

Also, how is parking near Astroland? Is it going to be mobbed?

I figured it couldn't hurt to chime in, and give out a brief description of what I look like, for the benefit of Horizons, et al. Of course, I'll be with Nathan and Jay, so that makes it easier - but if I happen at all to briefly split off to check out the band organs or such, you can't miss me - I'll have on my black satin Polar Bear Club jacket (complete with "Danielle" embroidered on the front) - and my hair is red as all hell right now, cut shoulder length. Black wire-rimmed glasses. See you all there.

Well, they have dropped the temp by a few degrees, but still just a passing shower:

Ok everyone, the forecast looks like theres a chance of rain during the day with a high of near 50 with rain by nightfall. Normally that kind of forecast wouldn't deter me that much from going to a park. but considering that I absolutely cannot afford to get sick in the next 2 weeks (I have an internship interview and an on-air talent gig at college among other things,) I may have to bow out of this trip if the weather doesn't look a little better (warmer I'm hoping) when I check tomorrow morning.

^i appreciate the concern horizons, but modern wisdom does suggest that cold does not have any hand in circulating "colds".

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Common_cold#.22Cold.22_as_a_misnomer

if anything, there will be discomforts in say, going 60mph on cyclone in a cold drizzle, but there is no increased likelyhood of virus transmission.

Well, weather.com is saying that there's a 50% chance of rain. I hope you all have a good time.

Just to absolutely make sure that my last post came across straight:

I like to celebrate early. I'll be there ready to ride like the wind! I think I'll be leaving at around 9:00am giving me plenty of time to shoot for the 10:30-11:00am time slot. I'll be wearing a dark greyish/blue zipper hoodie with khakhi pants, a black Mets cap and a small wallet chain on my right side.
