I don't know if any one else here subscribes to this magazine, but I do, and while you could probably look it up on their website, I thought I'd post some of the results of their 2004 Reader's Choice Awards here.

Top 10 Wooden Coasters:

1) The Beast
2) Shivering Timbers
3) Thunderhead
4) Lightning Racer
5) Phoenix
6) Boulder Dash
7) Ghostrider
8) The Legend
9) Mean Streak
10) The Raven and Viper (tied)

Top 10 Steel Coasters:

1) Millennium Force
2) Superman: Ride of Steel (SFNE)
3) Magnum XL-200
4) Top Thrill Dragster
5) Nitro
6) Phantom's Revenge
7) Apollo's Chariot
8) Montu and The Incredible Hulk (tied)
10) Steel Force

Favorite Park:

1) Cedar Point
2) Kennywood
3) Magic Kingdom
4) Hersheypark, Holiday World, Islands of Adventure, and Knoebels (4-way tie)

Most Beautiful Park:

1) Busch Gardens Williamsburg
2) Paramount's Kings Island
3) Epcot and Hersheypark

Cleanest Park:

1) Holiday World
2) Cedar Point
3) Magic Kingdom

Friendliest Staff:

1) Holiday World
2) Cedar Point
3) Dollywood

Favorite New Ride or Attraction for 2004:

1) Thunderhead
2) Storm Runner
3) Revenge of the Mummy
4) Silver Bullet
5) J2 (formerly Tsunami) and Spinning Dragons (tied)

Best Water Ride or Attraction:

1) Dudley Do-Right's Ripsaw Falls
2) Splash Mountain
3) Jurassic Park River Adventure

Best Themed Ride or Attraction:

1) Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man

3) Haunted Mansion

Who here thinks some CP fanboys might subscribe to this magazine? Considering CP won 4 categories and placed in 7 of them (not all of which I have mentioned here), I'm guessing so.

And the fact that Mean Streak was #9 in wood coasters...

^ Yeah, that too. And Blue Streak is more deserving of making the list than Mean Streak anyway. If you're looking for airtime (which most people are when talking about wooden coasters) there's no comparison between them. At all.

That list doesn't seem like it was from even 2004! Who does read this magazine and submit their opinions to it?

At least it has a bit of variety...

If I could open my arms and span the length of the isle of Manhattan
I'd bring it to where you are making a lake of the East River and Hudson
If I could open my arms wide enough for a marching band to march out
They would make your name sing and bend through alleys and bounce off all the buildings

Why doesn't it look like it is from 2004? The new rides are from 2004.

Ya, that looks a bit skewed. Boulder dash is 5th in top wood coasters

It was considered the best woodie on earth until last year, when Thunderhead got that honor

There are a bunch of different coaster awards out there. This just happens to be one of them. You probably read about another poll.

Yeah, I know that it was some other poll, but I can't remember which. It wasn't a poll though, it was some article that I had found on Power Library at school.

One thing you guys have to realize is that this magazine is has some serious time issues. For instance, it is supposed to be a quarterly magazine, and I got a membership in November 2004. So it has now been almost a year and half (the equivalent of 6 issues) and I have gotten 3. So, yeah, they're pretty damn behind the times. In fact, with this last issue, they just sent me the ballot for the 2005 Reader's Choice Awards, so they might actually get those results tabulated and into the magazine and on the site sometime this year! But maybe that's asking for too much...

I would agree with the awards as they stand. I would also suggest you subscribe to ACE or GOCC to keep you up to date on coasters and parks from year to year and meet people who enjoy coasters as you do.

I personally don't agree with how it all looks, but that is just my opinion on the matter.

That may be the only poll more slanted than the GTA's.

Yeah, it's pretty sad. Very little variety on that list at all, and relatively little change from one year to the next.
