Since we are in October and except for large parks the year is pretty much over I thought I would state what I am planning on doing to improve the site a little in the very boring off season.

I am planning on looking at a couple of the rides I have reviewed each day. First I will clean up or in some instances update my review. Second I will look at other reviews of the ride and comment, rate, or post a complaint according. Hopefully this will increase the amount of good reviews on the site. Also it may pull up some reviews for others to look at also. Also since I have almost never rated reviews this will give me a chance to use that feature more.

If anyone else has ideas or plans please post here.

I will be going through my parks in order so I will be strating with Adventureland (IA)

That's a good idea. I'm glad the offseason is being used to spruce up the site

I'll try to help by playing the judge with the reported reviews.

Good luck and let us know if we can help. Honestly I don't have much to update in my reivews or else I would start there.

Most of mine are just cleaning up my massive typos when I first started. Very few will actually be rewrites. I also found that the Adventureland ones are easy since I am like the only reviewer on a lot of them. Such a shame that place is a great park(not coaster) experience.

As I mentioned in the FoN, I'll be working up a very comprehensive report on Theme Park food, so anyone who has comments please add them the post in the FoN.
input for Amusement Park Food thread
I'll need help with the Orlando parks, since I know many of you (tacoking, swimace, etc...) have more knowledge of them than I. BFL and I will be sampling the food at BGT on October 14th

I'm updating all my reviews, except walk-through rides, or shows I don't remember well, like the Carrousel of Progress, and the walk through attractions at Animal Kingdom.

Wow I had no idea I wasn't the only one with an off season agenda. Now I just have to stick to it.

I feel like the only reviews that I have to clean up are the ones for Hershey. I'll get that done after next weekend because I'll probably be going to the park and I'll get rides to refresh my memory a little bit.

So far going through Adventureland has netted me very little. Just typo correction and a couple positive reviews. Course I think I am the only active member who has been there so I knew this we be quick and boring.

I am done with Adventureland so Animal Kingdom is next. These were some of my first reviews so these are probably some seriously flaming piles of poo.:fire:

B-Fun I posted a lot of complaints today for one sentence reviews from members who don't exist. There was even one for the same review twice. I just wanted you to know that it was to reviews even though thet are the same. It was not a double complaint. Do what you think is right on my complaints since i will probably never know anyway since I won't go thru this again.

I probably deleted half of the reviews you reported. Generally, so long as they provide some sort of justification for the review (even if its as lame as "good ride but not worth the wait"), I let it go. The precedent set is to be fairly lenient.. but a lot of the reviews you reported were junk and the site is better off without them. If you have any doubt report it and we'll take a look.

Just curious, did you report
this review
? Someone did and I wondered why they did...

^looks like a good review to me. Probably some idiot complaining about the rating.

FYI - a funny thing, last time I checked about a month or two ago I had only 1 bad review, now I have 16. I'm sure they came from stupid people also.

I hate when people do that.

After checking again, mine shot up a ton. I'm over 100 goods now, I guess someone loves me

edit: I looked around and quite a few people have seen huge increases in rated reviews. Maybe someone rated every review at some certain park or something? Meh.. I dont know, Larry's reviews are still too good for that crap. This is why I still say the user should have to justify the rating.

Nope bob not me. I am glad you found some of those reviews to be crap also. It took almost 15 minutes to go thru Dinosaur today. Space Mountain is going to suck majorly.

Granted my Goods also increased a lot, but I preferred when I had a 19-1 Good to Bad ratio.

c-05, I thank you for taking that time. Every time I log on and find 2 pages of spam, I wonder if anyone cares any more. That made me feel better

Larry, I'll look into it. Like I said, you're not the only one to see a big jump so I'll try to figure out what happened.

BTW are we going to get some sort of organization going regarding Tampa?

Oh so you two guys are going to Tampa together also. Gee by the time we hit the UK you'll be like brothers. Its a good thing I got my wife since I don't want to be the third wheel from TPC.

Totally kidding have a great time. BGT is one of the parks I really want to get back to.

Maybe to prevent people from ruining peoples good and bad totals, the site could add a feature that lets people know who has given them good and bad reviews. I have gotten a few from my reviews in Pennsylvania (like Roller Soaker, Hershey's Chocolate World, and the Knoebels Paratrooper), but not too much.

I used to never do it, but as a review my old reviews I am trying to rate more. however I still find most reviews including my own to just be average so no rating is given

I was going to e-mail you but don't have your address. I was going to get it from coasterenthusiast.com but the site seems to be down.

My flight gets in a 9AM on Friday, I'm renting a car from Alamo so I hope to be at the park by 9:45-10:00. E-mail me and I'll give you my cell phone number.

I've started the whole improvement thing. I just went through the Clementon reviews (I know, not too many to go through there but it was the first on my ride tracker list) and put my reviews through the spell checker, gave some goods to some very excellent reviews and checked out some rides that I hadn't been on... even put in a complaint.

I can't sleep, so I guess it looks like Dorney will be the next park. That should take a while and should hopefully put me to sleep.

I have registered a lot of complaints for 3 word reviews or reviews from people who turned out to be idiots. It is kind of fun reading the reviews but when you see like page 1 of 12 you know you are in for a haul.

Yeah I gave up last night in the middle of Hercules, and that only had like 6. I have only reported a couple, but, the one that I did report on and it was deleted was from Horizens . He should know better... he reviewed the Inverter at Clementon and he said flat out that "he hasn't ridden it, but has been on others"

I have also got a couple where it is obvious they were reviewing the wrong ride. I often stop about halfway through the group of reviews. Usually the older ones have a lot more complaints. I have also scored about 40 reviews so far.

I have now made it through Canobie lake park on my tracker. I am terrified at how long Cedar point will take to check all the reviews. The fanboy action I am soon to see may cause me to go insane.

Thanks, I caught this.

I came back after being gone for a while to 60 complaints, and quite a few of them WERE deleted so thank you for this extraordinary effort to help clean the site up. It's well appreciated on my end

Some of the oldest ones are unbelievably bad especially the guy who wrote the same review at least 3 times. Glad it helped.
