This is probably a dumb question, but I've never been to PPP previously. But what's all the talk about registration and memberships? This is an open to the public event, right?

What talk about memeberships? The event is indeed open to the public. I think people were just wondering how it all works.

you know, reading this thread really makes me want to go. its killing me inside that im going to have to miss it this year. PPP is by far the best single event of the year. and all that food at the crafts festival side is so good
but...
ill be at the PSU v ohio state game that night. no way im passing that up (although this event is probably the only thing that could give the football game a run for its money). for all those who dont follow college football... PSU is having a break out year essentially tied in the big 10 with wisconsin and ranked for the first time in a few years at #16. that minnesota win last week was so huge.

Coaster05 said in the PPP-Who is going? thread: Taylor, Figment and Myself will al be there. Plus my wife but she is not a member.
I read that and also heard about registration from Knoebel's website.

The "registration" is just for the event itself to get wristbands and such. There is no real registration. You don't have to be a member.
I'm not sure, but I think that coaster05 might have meant that is wife is not a member of this site?

OK, so we doing this whole meet up thing? Someone suggested 4:30 at the Round Stand? Sounds good to me.
I will be there earlier, you will most likely find me at the Flyers if you are looking for me.
So, lets get a roll call going, just add your name:

Don't worry about it, rain or no rain, it is always a great event. It rained a few years ago, but still didn't dampen anyone's spirit.

coaster05 + wife, taylorb & figment probably won't be at PPP. the weather isn't getting any better, and forecasts don't look good. we drove all the way to kennywood, only to find it closed. tomorrow in pittsburgh looks a lot better than elysburg (5 inches of rain there!). we'll check the knoebels site again tomorrow i'm sure, but it ain't lookin' good kids! we were all really looking forward to this too.

Yes, it will be wet, but the event will still go on as scheduled, it always does. Kennywood canceled their night basically because they need to make money from it, Knoebels event is more of a gift to everyone at the end of the year, so they run it rain or shine.
You are already most of the way here, if you miss out you will be missing one great time.

more rain equals less crowds, I'm in. Rich - it would have been good to see you and Melanie again and teach you how to have fun on the Skooters
Edit - Of course it all sounded good until I got on the road. I-80 was a mess in Jersey, and after driving for an hour I had to turn around. aargh!

So what ended up happening does anyone know. Kennywood was awesome on Saturday plus we did Pitt Zoo which was also good. Overall we definately made the right choice I believe.

Yeah-I was on the fence and decided not to go when I saw the weather on the way to Harrisburg from Dover. Went to Six Flags America for Fright Fest on Sunday instead.

Saturday was cool and light to moderate rain all day. Attendance was lower then usual, which I think most of us expected. When I came out of the Mansion at 630, there was only 3 people in line. This is compared to the Q-Lines filled last year. The Antiques at around 9 did have a decent line, as did the Phoenix. The Fandango looked pretty cool with the smoke machine. Cant really tell yas much more since I was baby sitting a few rides from 7-9.
On a side note I was taking someone out on the Antiques and came upon a stalled car. In my attempts to stop cars from hitting each other one kept moving and hit me in the shin while I was trying to get out of the way. So, if anyone was in the traffic jam and heard me yell something, I apologize...HA.
Anyhow, hope you all had a great time.

It was cold, it was wet, it was a great time, too bad you all missed out.
There were not many costumes due to the whether, but that was OK. Both coasters were screaming Saturday night, fantastic. But, I of course, spent most of my time on the Flyers My butt is a little sore now. I took basically no pictures, you can find those that I did take here:

Fandango looked fantastic with the fog machines, but I think they should have turned out all the lights and just had the red flood lights on while it was running.
Also of note, the Phoenix and the Haunted Antique Cars will be open 7-10 for the next three Saturdays to benefit the local fire companies, so if anyone really wants an end of the season Phoenix fix, you can still get it.

Cyclonic, those pics are great - especially that last one - what was that about? Glad you had a good time - I was thinking about PPP the whole weekend long. We got serious rainstorms in Delaware - up to our ankles in muddy, sandy puddles. But business must go on, and we had a good time.
Want to ask - what's with the different ride cars lined up on the ground? A "historic ride" exhibit, of sorts? I'm curious.

So you were the guys with the hats. I think I was right near the Attic in the Mansion when you guys went threw, and I was like, what are they suppose to be. Ha...
On a side note with the Phoenix the next few weekends, if anyone is comming in you have to go to the main feature, the Haunted House about a mile down the road towards Elysburg.
