Review of Rolling Thunder @ Six Flags Great Adventure
-2 Rating Posted by: mrceagle on 10/21/2001 10:15:00 PM
A poor coaster at most their is no speed the ride is ruf and its in terable shape. I have been on alot of woodies in my life and this is the worst. i never though I would wish a woodies doom untill this one. They need to use the space foar a better wooden coaster. The lack of mantenance leeds to beleave it might hapen soon. a racing coaster that dont race is usless.

its sad, this coaster was the exact opposite of what your saying. It still does race.

omg...what days do u people go to Sf? I always have them race.

its not racing. i was there 2 weeks ago. the lift hill for the right side isnt there anymore. SFGadv needs to either fix this up or tare it down.

This is a very rough ride. Ive been to to Great Adventure like 5 times and I have never seen this coaster race.

Right dab in the middle of the summer I went two days in a row to SF and both days the two coasters were racing. In fact EVERY time I have been to GA the two coasters haved raced each other. I may be one of the few lucky people who continually ride both rides, but I loveem both...

P.S. I have been to Six Flags at least 20 times in my life. Maybe since it is at the end of the season, they are fixing up the right side for next years opening...ever think of that???

When I went to Great Adventure on 10/20 the coasters were NOT racing. I have been there lots of times this summer and they have not been racing them.

That sux for you cuz they were when I went....
bb_dg on 10/23/2001 6:01:18 PM said:
maybe you were seeing things because a good amount of people seem to have not seen them racing.
Sephiroth7 on 10/24/2001 3:26:27 PM said:
Well like I said before. "That sucks for you." Because it is not in my imagination that they are racing. Hopefully I can be as lucky as I have been, cuz they are always running when I am there and GA is the park I visit most. GASM is down much more than RT anyway...
bb_dg on 10/24/2001 8:22:07 PM said:
ill tell you what, go to SFGadv this weekend and ride both sides of rolling thunder and then tell me that they are racing.
Sephiroth7 on 10/25/2001 4:32:18 PM said:
Did you read the rest of this discussion??? I dont think you did. Read comment #6 and then come back... And it would be hard for me to go to GA this weekend being that I am in Miami right now...il be there next summer though...
bb_dg on 10/25/2001 7:41:35 PM said:
i know what you said but even after that you are still claiming that its still racing. if you dont know then you shouldnt say that you do.

RT may have its faults, but to rate it a 1 is rediculous. Meaningless scoring like this undermines the usefulness of the rankings this website tries to provide to all of us.
Sephiroth7 on 10/25/2001 11:57:06 PM said:
bb you arent reading clearly. In comment 6 I say the right side might be closed because they are working on it being that is in the end of the season. Sometimes theme parks close rides at the end of the summer in order to open them in time for the next year. I have a feeling this is the case for RT. However, they were both racing this summer the many times I went there, so dont tell me I dont know what Im talking about...
bb_dg on 10/27/2001 11:58:43 AM said:
i know what you said and thats probably the case because everyone in this discussion that went sometime in october didnt see them racing. and the reason i said that you dont know what youre talking about is because you havent been to SFGadv at the end of this season so you really dont know what youre talking about, you are only speculating.
Sephiroth7 on 10/27/2001 9:32:52 PM said:
Around the same time I went to SF this year some other person also claimed it didnt race. I had to prove them wrong then too. I know just as much as you, if not more. People have been saying they stopped racing for as long as I have been on this site. I have been on this site longer than you have and have had many conversations about Rolling Thunder and how it is supposed to be "not" racing. I was making the assumption this time that they might have actually closed the right side for an indefinite amount of time, in order to have the right side running perfect for next season. Dont tell me I am only speculating because I am deeply invloved in all RT conversations. The person who doesnt seem to know what they are talking about is you, because there have been many cases of RT not running one side way longer back than October. This isnt a new discussion...
bb_dg on 10/28/2001 12:12:28 PM said:
there really isnt any point in arguing with you because there are alot of people who havent seen them racing and then there is you who has seen them racing. i know what i saw and you know what you saw and this discussion is just going to keep going in circles so i am dropping it as of now.

Ok Master...and by the way go to the very first post on this page....done? So it seems there is someone who agrees with me and that someone is one of the most trustworthy people on this site, or maybe both of us are crazy and we are seeing things...now its over, period.

I must have really bad luck. I went to SFGAdv twice this summer and did not see them race. The days I went were Friday June 15th and Monday August 20th. On June 15th they had the one side running early in the day and the other side running later in the day, but they didnt have both sides running at the same time. I was there once last year and they werent racing that day either. I just assumed that they werent racing them anymore. I did see Jumpin Jack Flash running for the first time on my last trip though. So maybe my luck is improving. I do hope to see them race someday.

It seems I am very lucky, cuz people always say they never have them race. Not only do I get to race them, I get to race them every time Im there. The right side always wins as well.

I have been to Sf 4 times and i have never seen them race, i agree that the ride was pretty lame. Last time i went they were only running one train on one track!
