Review of Vortex @ Kings Island
-1 Rating Posted by: BobFunland on 8/30/2007 1:23:00 AM
Another awesome creation from Arrow, one that I could care less if I never rode again. Despite the great first drop, this ride just beat my to death. Probably a combination of my size and the fact that it was about 95 degrees and I was already feeling a bit weak (not like this is PKIs only rough coaster) but still, I can only tolerate so much. The loops were ok, as usual pretty forceful and among the smoother segments, but anywhere this ride began to move laterally (corkscrews, turns, etc) it just was hard to not feel the pain. Id like to ride again but wont settle for anything less than the magic seat next time.

A 3? why?

The explanation is right there. Vortex gives a brutal ride.

No this ride is a huge part of Kings Island and it is one of the smoothest rides Ive ever rode.

So you have decided what Bob can like about a coaster?

Then you havent been on much. Its no secret that Arrow loopers can be brutal. And Vortex can get pretty nasty.

Ive on the that ride a bunch of times and every time Ive rode it I loved It I felt that the ride was very smooth and that th e tracks were very nice. i guess its my age and my body type...

^Whats your body type? Prepubescent?

2348 I dont mind if you find it smooth and enjoyable, but telling other people no is just not cool.

I would be quite depressed if this fit my definition of smooth. In fact, I probably wouldnt ride roller coasters.

coaster05- dont be disrepecting my name its 2348z not 2348.
Im sorry you guys are probaly in you 20s -50s and you arent as fit as I am. Im a soccer player so I have to be able to take the pain and be able to perserve through it. Sorry for taken this the wrong way. Im only a teenager so Sorry for not taken your opinion seriously.

Youre a teenager who has been to 2 parks outside of the WDW complex - I think its your opinion which shouldnt be taken too seriously, especially compared to the other 4 people who have posted here who have combined to ride more than 1000 coasters at hundreds of parks across the globe. You shoudl back your ego down a bit, and I wont even address the physical pain tolerance comment right now...

2348z: go ride Kumba, or any other high end sit-down looper, and then get back with us.

I am a soccer coach so I am sure I can handle the pain of a sport that hardly allows physical contact. Grow up or get out.
2348z on 12/18/2007 11:55:05 AM said:
Ok but mr Coach are you nuts? Go to You Tube and type sports most painful moments and then see how many videos have soccer players breaking the shins or having there ankle broken. Is that not pain? Is not physical contact? I thought that was. And ginzo your on I tell you in the spring how I feel. name a ride at cedar point and I will ride it.

Did I miss something? What in the hell does playing soccer have anything to do with riding a roller coaster?
taylorb251 on 12/18/2007 1:28:48 PM said:
I guess it makes you tough. Soccer does have its moments as does football, boxing, baseball and basketball. Lets get over it.

I didnt say there wasnt physical contact I said the sport hardly allows physical contact. Obviously I enjoy the sport of soccer Mr. Player or I wouldnt waste my time coaching it. Sorry I ruined your little tirade by being a 35 year old man who is physically fit enough to handle the rigors of sport. You can break your ankle walking on ice, but I wouldnt use that as my defense on why we are not physically fit enough to handle Vortex.

2348z: Cedar Point doesnt really have any great sit-down loopers. But here is a list of rides you should try:

Mind Bender - SFoG

Kumba - Busch Gardens Tampa

Tennessee Tornado - Dollywood

Medusa - SFGAdv (or most any B&M floorless)

hey ginzo....I just reviewed Mindbender and was wondering what you thought. The review probably got lost in the mass of short reviews being posted daily.

Its not fun when you have like 5 people teaming up on you.

^Yeah, but were all old, probably in our 20s to 50s. You can take us!

^Do you know thousands of people died in their sleep. I think we should ban sleeping so we will all live longer. I am being sarcastic but every death in an amusement park is news. It is annoying.
