Review of Nitro @ Six Flags Great Adventure

Nitro is most definitely a noticeable notch below Apollo&#39.s Chariot in my mind, but it still holds its own among my top coasters. Basically, I look at it this way: In nearly all aspects, Nitro falls short of beating Apollo, but Apollo&#39.s Chariot is so phenomenal to me that it would have been nearly impossible for Nitro to dethrone it as my #1 Hyper. The frist drop is fantastic and intense, but you simply do not get the floater air all the way to the bottom like Apollo offers. The twisting second drop was a highlight of the ride, but again...the intense floater air was painfully absent. The third drop was good, but once again...the same exact problem: not as much airtime as Apollo&#39.s Chariot. The next portion of the ride, however, is what I see as when the fun starts: the Hammerhead turn, ensuing airtime hill, second twisting drop, and upward helix. In my mind, the Hammerhead Turn saves Nitro from mediocrity. What an experience...very great ride-element. The airtime hill after the Hammerhead is probably the best drop of the ride, IMO. This is the only moment at which I got airtime that was on the same level as Apollo&#39.s Chariot&#39.s. The second twister dive had great airtime too, as well as some very cool visuals. Nitro&#39.s helix easily destroys Apollo&#39.s Chariot&#39.s helix by a long shot: it&#39.s much more intense and the forces are more prolonged. Then you slam into the brakes, and in my opinion, the ride ends. The drop out of the MCBR is weak in comparison to AC&#39.s. The final airtime hills provide some air, but nowhere near the insanity of Apollo. When the ride ended, I was left thinking...&quot.Wow that would have been so much more kickass if I had never ridden Apollo&#39.s Chariot!&quot. So essentially, Nitro is a great ride, but it simply cannot compare to Apollo&#39.s Chariot .)
