this ride is by definition a real head scratcher. a psychedelic journey into the dark pockets of garfields mind where his most treasured meals try to turn around and eat him? yes, its true, in this dark boat ride which was once a classic kennywood spooky ride, one gets to see lasagna, pizza and mugs of coffee become carnivorous and threaten to consume garfield with the same zeal he once devoured those very things with. i was initially a little shocked to hear that kennywood felt that garfield still had enough pull with the general public to be the central theme of a dark ride, but once i got in the boat and took a spin my initial incredulousness was upgraded to a full fledged "WTF!?" those 3D black-lit and very jitzy/cardboard-y looking scenes may register among the goofiest, most garish, most preposterous and most stoned bit of amusement ride visioning ever brought to life. i am very enamoured by what i consider to be "all wrong" attempts at entertainment so i got sufficient enjoyment from this ride. will kids enjoy garfields nightmare? perhaps, why not? kids like bizarre stuff like tele-tubbies. the thought crosses my mind however that the demographic most likely to get the maximum pleasure from "garfeilds nightmare" is the one comprised of those who are profoundly intoxicated.
