Review of Legend @ Holiday World

Legend is absoultely relentless! I had high expectations for the Legend and it exceeded them. Perhaps my only complaint about the ride is that the theming seemed lackluster and I expected better. I know that the station is supposed to be like an old schoolhouse, but if I had not known this prior to my visit I wouldnt even realize the attempt at theming. Anyway, Legend reminds me of a better version of Ghostrider. It has the same out-of-control feeling but has a more interesting layout and setting and is nowhere near as rough. The first hill is large for a wooden coaster and looking up at those flags from the line can be pretty intimidating. The trains are comfortable and are decorated nicely. One awesome thing I noticed while waiting in line is the incredible volume of the roar made by the trains as they enter the tunnel at the bottom of the first drop. Kind of cool - the trains drop and drop and then BOOM, they hit the tunnel. First drop is filled with massive floater air, especially in the back seat, and the tunnel is great. I like the long left turn that continues out of the drop. After the intense turnaround under the water slide there are good headchoppers and one hill that has awesome airtime that is sustained for several seconds. The helixes toward the end of the ride are very intense and filled with very strong laterals, some of the best on any coaster. After a few hills with some pops of airtime the trains make it back to the station after a long ride. A reminder of how relentless this coaster is can be found in the speed at which the train is going as it hits the final breaks. After the long course it is still moving very quickly. Overall Legend is one of my favorite wooden coasters and gives a great ride. Back seat is the best. Ive heard that Legend is by far the best after dark, and had I had a chance to ride at night it might be even higher on my list.
