Review of Music Express @ Lake Compounce
1 Rating Posted by: Canobie Coaster on 7/26/2005 6:22:00 PM
The Musik Express at Lake Compounce is a wonderful himalaya. The Musik Express was built by Mack, and has been relocated many times at Lake Compounce. Its current location is near the back of the park, next to Boulder Dash. The Musik Express usually is a walk-on, and it has a very high capacity. This ride has very loud music, and bright lights. Like all Musik Expresses, the ride looks beautiful at night. This Musik Express travels fast, and the person on the outside, really gets squished by other riders. However, the Musik Express only travels forwards, which is disappointing but very few now actually go backwards. Overall, the Musik Express is a decent himalaya, but like all himalayas would be better if it were backwards. I recommend this ride to anyone who enjoys himalayas, or spinning rides. Put bigger people on the outside, and smaller people on the inside.

Ill agree about the cool music (yesterday we got "Black Dog"!) but one other con: someone needs to clean this thing. The tenting is rather grimy. Odd, as most of LC looks quite nice.

So is your only reason for giving it a 7 because it doesnt go backwards. For starters I have had this conversation with many people on many sites. I guess i need to have it again. There are two Huge reasons they dont go both forward and backwards. the most obvious is that in order to have the high capacity you mentions they need to keep the ride to a reasonable length of time. the Slowing and restart to run it backwards requires a longer ride and in turn drops the capacity down. Also less known but bigger in the parks mind is that running the ride both forward and backwards makes it really easy to throw your equilibrium off. while to Enthusiasts that might be desired. To many GP that simply makes them Through up. That means the ride must be shut down, cleaned and properly sanitised. That causes a huge drop in capacity do to down time. in turn many park have opted to run the rides in one direction.
