 Review of Hurler @ Carowinds

I will begin by saying that I dont like woodies very much, and Hurler did nothing but confirm that. Still, I went in with an open mind, like I did with Texas Giant and Thunderhead, two woodies I really like. First off Hurler just looks run down. The big station house is so ugly and the wood is kind of crappy looking. This also has one of the longest que lines in history. Im sure long ago this line was full, but now it just makes for a long walk. I walked right on the very back row(bad move), the seats were very comfortable and soft, but once the ride started I proceded to get beat up like Napeleon Dynamite. This thing is super-rough. Because it has no large second hill you get moving. I mean it too, this thing is fast. It has plenty of smaller bumps and that is where the trouble is. Because it is so fast, you cant brace yourself for the turns and bumps. Sure it has airtime, but it is the falling back into the seat that hurts. I got whipped around pretty bad and it gave me a major headache. It felt like the trains were going to fly off the track and it was shaking so badly. Even the airtime hurt because I got pushed right into the uncomfortable restraints. Being the coaster freak that I am, I put myself through it again in a different row and got the same results. I rode it front row, back row, and twice in the middle to try and get a good rounded overview and it all came out the same. I wasnt the only one that felt this was too rough. I thought at first that maybe because I am a little older that is why it hurt. But there were young tenns on there too, and they complained more than me. One girl almost threw up. I have never understood the devotion some people have to woodies, and this one sure does nothing to reverse that feeling.

This ride is glass compared to Son Of Beast (SOB). If you want the definition of whipped around, headache, slamming your side, and the feeling of derailing ride the Son Of Beast. Now, Son Of Beast is a torcher device.
