This quite a true classic; hand-carved horses, two levels, and it looks great at the entrance of the park behind the fountian pool. Its also the worlds tallest Carousel.

Really nice comment! It is a classic--correction: they are classic. Its duplicate is at Six Flags Great America in Gurnee, IL. J. Willard Marriott built two identical parks in 1976 to celebrate the bicentennial. Both parks have gone through several owners and have different rides, but Columbia is one that they have not torn down or replaced as it is the parks signature piece. Die-hard carousel enthusiasts debate its authenticity as a real classic carousel because the animals are NOT hand-carved, but are fiberglas replicas of carefully selected wooden originals from museum and private collections.
