Review of Space Mountain @ Magic Kingdom

What coaster has continued to thrill people so much over this many years? Well, I know there are a few others, but at least for me none have done it more than Space Mountain. In 1955, it blew people away, and 50 years later, hear in 2005 it continues to do the same.

The effects may be slightly old, but its that same age that makes them so great. They are classic. Classic Disney. Then, you have the mass of steel that is the actual coaster in pitch black. Wait a minute, you are going only 27mph? Yep, only 27mph. You may think its the darkness thats making it seem like you are travel 57, but I think its the design of the track that does it, and its quick turns and twisted track. I rode it with the lights on in the inside and it still felt like I was going 57mph. Great ride, and a classic.

I agree. The line is cool, too.

I cant believe it only goes 28 mph. Its one of my favorite coasters.

Yeah, its a great ride, but to me it doesnt come as a surprise that most of disneys rides go below 40 mph. The only exceptions are Test Track, RRC, and California Screamin, as far as I know.

I hate the line. All those switcbacks annoyed me and seemed endless.

Yeah, it does seem endless, but Disney was probably trying to keep the line inside the building.

Another long long long line is DD Ripsaw Falls at IoA. Id hate to be in that thing when its filled up.

Splash Mountain at disneyland doesnt have a long line, but the wait can get up to two hours.

I couldnt figure out why it took so long (regarding SM) because the line was long but didnt look like it was going to go on for a long time. Plus, this was before they installed the wait-time displays on each ride so you really did have to guess (You could never trust the times that were posted on that bilboard thing). You know, the "From this point, the wait is..." sign). BTW: Ripsaw Falls was a really long line. But there was enough to keep you interested because of its cartoony-style. Luckly, we only waited about 10 minutes for it.

DDs line moves fairly fast, but you could still be waiting in there for a while during the summer.
disneyman on 11/18/2003 11:29:26 PM said:
Yeah, that is probably because the logs move faster. The line can get very long though.

I got stuck in Ripsaw Falls line for well over 90 minutes. The ride kept breaking down, but it was worth it.

Yes, DD is a very good ride.

90 minutes is a long time. I try not to get in a line that long unless there are no other rides to ride.

It was the last ride of the day. (Before my 8th time on Hulk) The queue sign said "20 minutes" but it had been breaking down constantly on my stay in Orlando, and it broke down several times throughout the day. (Many of which I was already in line) I kept getting out of the line, and then I got fed up and decided to wait no matter what. I finally got to enjoy my ride

I hate it when a ride breaks down, especially ones with animatronics.
