Its ok, but it needs to get fixed up. They should take this, the viper, and the mine train down and build a big B&M in its place. Something like Mantis or one of their new flying coasters that theyre building in Alton Towers and SFOG.

theres never too many B&Ms...however recently ive heard theyve been repainting rolling thunder; hopefully theyll refurbish it also during the offseason

They are repainting it, I was there a few weeks ago and saw them doing the work. I just wonder though, if they are repainting it now, does that mean they may not do what it really needs, retracking. Were it me, repainting would be done after retrackingm and firming up the super structure.

thats true

They are getting a B&M flyer next season that will be placed in the parking lot next to GASM. but keep in mind it donst make sence to remove two rides for one. The rolling thunder on the other hand can bo torn down and replaced with a mush better woodie.

yea forget my rev...its a little outdated and i havent been on it since so id rather not change it til i go on it next season
Horizons12 on 11/14/2002 10:28:08 PM said:
If they tore rolling thunder down, id be sad cuz its a "post classic" woodie. It has modern type trains but the ride itself uses skid brakes to stop (im pretty sure they are. The station is tilted downward so the train can roll and then be stopped at certain points.) So yeah...but if they put in a dueling woodie in place of it then i wouldnt be too sad
mrceagle on 11/15/2002 1:54:00 PM said:
CCI coaster have skid bracks so thats nothing special. for the money it would take to fis this two costers they could add one mager one maybe a wood hyper. six flags needs to stop fighting with magic mountai and work on this one theirs more land to work with.
Horizons12 on 11/17/2002 6:49:28 PM said:
really? I the only CCI coaster ive been on is Great White, and that has sqeeze brakes. I assumed they all had them. I think they should take out the stupid Safari and fill it up with rides. Hardly anyone goes to that! Just make sure the animals are sent to places that can take care of them and start building!

its publicity, it is the largest of its type and one of the largest safari zoos out side of Aferica. they have plenty of expansion space. so what they should do. if instal a train ride throwout the safari(its already free with a two day pass)this adds a new atraction. they could also redesign the entrance. this would allow them to expand into the back parking lot area

I wonder how much space Six Flags owns in Jackson.
B&M Rider on 11/18/2002 4:11:15 PM said:
tons and tons and tons and tons. i believe more than 700 acres. (much more land than SFMM)
Cyclonic on 11/18/2002 6:42:32 PM said:
I heard somewhere around 1000 acres, plenty of space. They own the lake and I belive the land on the other side of the lake as well. There is lots of space to expand into, if the stupid township lets them do it. That is one reason why SM is going in the parking lot, the township didnt want them to take down many trees I dont know about you all, but if it were me I would not be screwing with my biggest revnue source.

BTW, Rolling Thunder uses PTC trains, and was built in 1970. It is not a classic, but still a very well designed, if not well mantained, ride.

id like to show you a difference in theme park corporations:
Cedar Fair takes care of their woodies-Thunderhawk was built in 1923
Six Flags doesnt give a crap about their woodies-Rolling Thunder was build in 1979 (i think)

IMO, Thunderhawk looks and rides MUCH better than Rolling Thunder!
Cyclonic on 11/18/2002 9:56:49 PM said:
That is for sure, but CF also added that trim to the Thunderhawk, which sucks. Why do they have to lessen what was once a fun, wild, airtime filled ride.
Horizons12 on 11/18/2002 10:23:24 PM said:
With all that space I wanna see the 2nd Millenium Force being built! The 2nd Millenium Force and then some.

It is vary likly to see a giga coaster at this park. Six flags need to stop playing with CP and leave SFMM alone and expand this park. MM has nothing but coaster and many say that makes the park farly dull. their is a giant selaection of all typs of rides at great Adventure so working on this park would be easy. with 12 coaster in their buelt they need only 4 more to tie CP and 5 to take the record.

I hate how everyone thinks CP and SFMM are in compeition, its a pathetic argument and the only "coaster race" between SFMM and CP is in the minds of imaginative enthusiasts.
Axman on 12/18/2003 9:52:44 PM said:
Thats the worst idea ive ever herd! The mine train is their little young child coaster, and Rolling Thunder is thier manditory woodie(They could take out Viper if they wanted too).Your nuts.
