Best review of the Hulk in a while. As of late people want to "be different" by complaining. This review is as true as they come in as little words possible, although you could have spelled coolest right...

Its hard to top "The Hulk" .

Are you referring to people "being different" because they are complaining about Hulk or complaining in general, Sephiroth? If you mean Hulk, its not to be different, its more like enough people are finally experiencing the ride and realizing all the initial hype on the net was just that...hype! Read around all the biggest message boards and newsgroups - Hulk is not the ultimate beloved machine that people here at TPC would lead you to believe.

There are a lot of coasters rated higher at TPC. But I think the Hulk is definately one of the TPC favorites.

Well Mr. Hype...I went on the Hulk before the hype surrounded the ride back at the parks soft opening and I LOVED it. It was my favorite coaster at the time and still is. In fact, I think the opposite happend of late. People take the hype and create an image of the ride, then end up liking it less. When it first came out people went crazy over it. This is not to say people still dont love the ride, but of late I have noticed more 7s and scores like that. Saying what you are saying...a good ride, but not great. I will and always disagree with that statement. I have had many discussions about this subject for the year I have been here. I dont care what other forums say, that doesnt change my opinion of the ride...

As well it shouldnt change your opinion, nor is it meant to. I think you just need to understand that the thrill is gone. When you call this: "This is the collist ride in the park next to spiderman" a good review, thats just silly. XDisney is right, Hulk is a TPC favorite. This is about the only site where I see such unanimous blind loyalty for this ride. I think more people are finding this site and as time goes on the reviews get more and more realistic. Also just for the record I first rode the Hulk in the summer of 1999 - a few months after the park opened. When I went to Florida, I didnt even know what coasters were there. We just happened to take a vaction there the year IOA opened. There was no hype for me either. I got off enjoying the ride, but never really thought twice about it. Its nothing spectacular to me...again, just my opinion. Hell, theres a better coaster at the other end of the park - Fire Dragon. You dont even have to leave IOA to top Hulk.

I think Fire is excellent competition for the Hulk. Dueling Dragons and the Hulk are both excellent coasters. I would have to give the Hulk the edge because of the launch and the HUGE scale of the elements. IMHO

For one thing...I wasnt trying to change ur opinion. I was trying to say that the hype wasnt the only reason why it is often considered on of the top rides in the world. People arent realizing anything, reviews go in streaks and Hulk still has a 9.3 rating which is great. The review givin here does not tell you anything about the ride, it is just the concept I like. Its the best coaster, but it is still behind Spiderman. It is something not said often, yet is true. I would also be the first person to say Fire is a great coaster, one of the best. I dont like it better than the Hulk, but many do. It lacks the power of the Hulk, but adds the dueling factor. Either way, both are amazing rides, but to say the Hulk gets too much attention is false. It gets the attention it deserves...

I would have to disagree with Seph on this one. In a few years, Spiderman will have the same fate as BTTF. Something better will come out and Spidey will be old news. The Hulk is a quality coaster and will have much more staying power that doesnt rely on gimmicks for its thrills. I like Spidey a lot, But Im realistic enough to know the fickle mind of a theme park enthusiast.
Sephiroth7 on 1/27/2002 3:07:46 PM said:
I disagree. BTTF is a great ride and is still looked at as a great ride. Maybe not on this site, but for the general public it is still a well respected attraction. Spidy may loose some steam in many, many years down the rode, but it will never be looked at as a bad attraction. People will always respect Spidy, because it is a great attraction. Sure something better will come along, but I dont even see that for at least another couple of years. That ride did cost 200 mil...not many companys are going to invest 200 mill into one attraction. Only Disney or Universal would and Universal already has a 200 mil attraction and I personally dont see Disney spending that much on one attraction. Will something better come? Yes. But not for a while. Even when it does come, no one will forget Spidy...
xDisney on 1/27/2002 4:11:53 PM said:
I only give Spidey another year or two on top. The Hulk will be around as a top draw for a lot longer. Spidey could already use a rehab.
Sephiroth7 on 1/29/2002 1:04:22 AM said:
Use a rehab! Clearly not a Spidy lover. When people come to IOA, Spidy will be the number one or two attraction at the park. It will draw for as long as it is there. It is a very opinionated discussion because only time can tell, but I dont see it leaving anytime soon...

Hulk a better draw than Spidy.. ermmm I dont think that will be the case, reason being I take my mother or sister to that park theres no way theyll get on Hulk, but theyll ride Spiderman and think the world of it. Universal will have HUGE tie ins with the upcoming Spiderman movies (theres also a Hulk flick in the works as well) The studio has some nice ammo coming up, that with Jurrasic Park tie ins and the Suess movie last year theyve got some interesting sales piches they can throw. Overall I love both rides, but Spiderman will thrill more people just since more people will ride it.
