Review of Cyclone @ Six Flags New England
-1 Rating Posted by: Sephiroth7 on 10/7/2001 6:22:00 PM
A good imitation of the "real" Cyclone found in Brooklyn, NY. But this ride, even though very rough, does not give you the feeling that youre life is in danger like the CI Cyclone. I would have given it a 9 if the original Cyclone never existed. One of the best rides in the park and surely ride it if youve never been on the Brooklyn Murderer.

These rides are not related, it is not a clone, and The only thing remotley simular about the ride is the name of it. This is NO imatation. Sorry but you missed the life threating years. Did you notice the old drop/turn under the new? That was dangerb all over.

Isnt the first drop exactly the same? The rides are similar. But this is not as good.
Paul on 10/7/2001 8:13:42 PM said:
um.........The first drop doesnt even go halfway to the ground! it takes a turn almost on your side and then a second drop takes you all the way to the ground, The 3rd drop on the ride is the longest one. They are nothing alike.

I was wondering cuz my friend told me they were the same in length and degrees....maybe he was talking about the 3rd drop.

It seems not.

I always thought they were paying respect with it...the drop and all...isnt it 60 degree and the same length...I i did ride it by the way.
Paul on 10/8/2001 7:22:52 PM said:
It is 60 degrees, BUT they HAD TO make it that steep BECAUSE They only had 2 acres to work with to make the ride. You should also notice that the lift going up is unusually steep also, once again no choice.

Is it the same length as the CI????

My understanding (based on comments when it was built) is that it is based loosely on the Astroland Cyclone.

I remember coaster-ranking lists at the time the coaster was new remarking that three of the best coasters at that time were the Astroland Cyclone and two coaster based on it -- the Riverside Cyclone and one other Cyclone that I think is in Texas somewhere.

Yes the Texas Cyclone, Both Riverside Cyclone and Texas Cyclone were made by Bill Cobb.

This Cyclone is better. it is bigger too. Also you should not drop a rating two points because it semi-copies another ride (I do not know if it is a copy or not). Also who does everyone beat-up on this masterpiece.

your right it is so much bigger, and faster too

Each ride should be rated on its own merits. Today the term Cyclone" refers to a style of coaster.
Reader.com on 2/3/2002 9:50:18 PM said:
What does merit mean anyway
