I rode Sheikra the Monday after it opened and waited only about 40 minutes. Overall I have to say Sheikra didnt live up to the hype. It reminded my of Superman Ultimate Flight at SFoGA (another first generation B&M coaster) in terms of its length. You get two ultra-steep drops (neither of which were all that challenging) but thats about it.

The highlight of the ride for me was the extreme Immelman where the track goes straight up for what feels like a long time before inverting and finishing the manuever. Very cool. The tunnel, water splash, and brakes at the top of the drops were all cool, but for me didnt add up to anything all that special. Personally, Id prefer Apollos Chariots first drop over this one. Make this ride 300 feet tall and then maybe the view wouldve been a little more daunting.

Overall Sheikras no B&M masterpiece, but still well worth a ride. Most of the 7 points here are for the fact that its a B&M ride, which means its going to be smooth, fast, comfortable, and innnovative. Another couple points go to the sick Immelman, the watchability of the ride (seeing screaming people held 200 feet in the air) and the fact its the first of its kind in America. Final Rating - 7.5 (Good-Aproaching Great)

Isnt a 7 a little bit harsh? I would think that this would be at least an 8 or a 9. I havent ridden it yet, but Im going to soon. I was supposed to go this week but we rescheduled for this monday because of bad weather.

I really hope this person is one of a few who doesnt like it. I hope some more people review it and like it. This is THE ride I was looking forward to and if it sucks, well there goes the theme park year for me. No other ride looked as cool as this, I hope it delievers.

Looks dont mean anything. I dont understand how anyone can knock someones opinion if they havent been on the ride themselves. Its not like we have 20-30 other people who have ridden this ride and are raving about it.

B-Fun too many on this site base their opinion of their favorite ride based on its ranking. Its funny how by "looking at it" they know how good it will be. It does look awesome, so did looking at arrow loopers, they look awesome we all know how most turned out. IMO this is a great review.

A 7 aint bad outta 10. Overall, I was just expecting something longer. Its great but over quick. Youll see what I mean. Its cool but at the end you have a "Thats it?" kind of feeling that you dont find on most B&M masterpieces. IE Kumba, Apollos Chariot, even Montu.

Just because a ride looks awesome doesnLt necessarily mean it will be (I learned that lesson last week at WBMWM.) I hope more people like SheiKra better, but that may not be the case. I would love to ride it myself but ILm gonna wait for more reviews to be posted before I make that decision, as money and time are tight for me this year.

Yea, its probably some BGT fan who is mad because you didnt give it a 10. It sucks, and I still wish they rater had to provide justification for the bads, just like reviews need to justify their numerical rating.

They are just fanboys that get all caught up in everything and think that every new ride or just plan every ride at their park it a 10. I mean, Im a big time fan of my park but at least I admit when things are wrong and actually criticize the park sometimes. I still love the place though. I guess that is what gets me in trouble on dorneyonline.com. They are all just a bunch of fanboys too. Such crap. By the way, good review.

Certainly not a bad review and that was the reason for my earlier post. Some people take to liberty to inappropriately label a review "bad" if they dont agree with the rating. In my opinion anyone who backs up their review with good/valid reasons should not get a bad rating.

The inherent nature of a 1-10 rating system is that a 5 is average, anything less than 5 is bad, and anything more than 5 is good. However, I understand the argument that due to expectations, a 7 seems bad in comparison, but in my mind, no ride deserves a 10 because that would mean absolute perfection. I can always think of something more that a ride can include, so none of them are absolutely perfect. Great review CoastrGlxy!

Well, certain rides deserve 10s...even if they arent perfect. More than one ride can be rated as a 10...they can be different degrees of a 10 rating, but there are rides that you just have such a great time on that they can be a 10... I personally think a 7 says the ride is only slightly above average...but thats just me. From what CoastrGlxy said though, he had some good reasons to rate it a 7

Im pretty much doing my ratings like therock said. A 5 is average, so a 6 is "slightly above average", and a 7 is "above average" and so on. I personally prefer letter grades w/ a plus or minus. Most people can identify pretty easily w/ those. Except those weird Marylanders that got Es instead of Fs. Weirdos!!
