Review of Batman The Dark Knight @ Six Flags New England
-1 Rating Posted by: RAM20884 on 2/21/2003 1:15:00 AM
First time i saw it from the parking lot i said "thats it". The ride was too short, i waited an hour for it and the only way i can justify waiting that long was because i had never ridden it before and i figured i should try it. While i was on it what went through my mind was "this kicks ass" but as soon as that thought was over so was the ride. That thought is the only thing that kept this coaster from a 1. Had the coaster been longer then i might have enjoyed it but it seemed the general concensus of the groiup i went with was that it was a disappointment. The inversions were great and im definately a fan of floorless coasters (Kraken and Superman Krypton Coaster are among my top rides) but this didnt do it for me. As a side note i was also disappointed that it wasnt incorporated into "Superheri Adventures". So i give this ride a 4..my advice..skip it and head on over to Superman.

You are drastly missing alot of noledge about this coaster is was designed to have many inversions ina small space. this ride is no shorter then the Batman Inverts. you could literlally fit three of this into the space taken up by Medusa or Krypton, and 4 in Krakon. at a hight of 117 is is much smaller then the others yes. but a much more creative design. also aboutit not being in the DC area they couldnt fit it. their isnt really any room foranything down their.

Ok i know that it was impossible to place this in the DC area which is why i didnt make a big deal about i just kinda mentioned i was dissapointed and i do realize it was designed to fit in a small space but i was disappointed i think cuz my expectations were different. My problem is that since they now have used all the space in the actual park, does this mean all rides in the future will be this small?

No not really, for example they are expanding the water park. a 3.4 acre increas if I remember right. the parking lot on the park side. they also have pershased land down the street for somthing. ride it again and ride it as a coaster not comparing it to the huge space taking floorlesses of the world.
RAM20884 on 2/22/2003 12:40:54 AM said:
Down the street as in not connected to the park? what purpose does that serve. I guess i was just disappointed with the length. Its a great coaster when your riding it but it ends too quickly. I guess ill just have to take ur suggestion and ride it again though i may be skipping my annual trip there this year and heading down to SFGAdv. for my first time (gotta ride Nitro). As for the waterpark that disappoints me. Not once have i bothered with the water park. I go to SF for thrills. The water park to me is a waste of time.

In my opinion they should transport the watr park to the plot down the street(in CT). build a much larger water park and a motel/ camping complex. use a boat to transport peaple that are stayng at the resort tohte park. they they would have plentie of expantion room.. als remove Colosus ans put ina more standard Whell.

Eh..colussus to me is like a classic..me being afraid of heights its always been the scariest thing in the park (though i have no problem riding scream or superman). As for the waterpark idea ..its great..there is a lotta land being used (wasted in my opinion) where that waterpark is. Sounds like you should be runnin the park instead of the moron that is now.

a 4, a 4, ha. i have never been on this and i would give it a 7, im sure it would be higher after i go on it. i just cant believe, a 4, out of 10!!!!

The ride is good when your on it but its too damn short. Thats what gave it a 4. If im gonna wait over an hour for sumthing i want it to last. Thats why im not dyin to ride TTD. one of my criteria is length and this doesnt have it but go to the park ride it. Maybe youll like it but id rather spend my tim on Superman.
mrceagle on 2/22/2003 6:28:28 PM said:
You need to go on a week day. the lines will be dramaticly shorter. Teh ride isnt that short its 2:20. that makes it the second longest ride behind Superman.

And I would gladly take over the park if I could.

Actually i did go on a weekday in early june thinkin that all the kids there would be in school...4got bout field trips so it was packed.
tacoking on 2/22/2003 7:32:05 PM said:
thats too bad. u know sometimes it dosent matter what day it is, parks will be packed, but anyways... how long in lenght is the coaster???
RAM20884 on 2/22/2003 8:12:22 PM said:
2600 feet
tacoking on 2/22/2003 8:44:54 PM said:
well that does seem kind of short, but i have been on shorter.but i still think thats shorter than normal.
mrceagle on 2/23/2003 1:13:56 AM said:
For me it was the other way around. it was fairly dead every time i went exept opening day.
RAM20884 on 2/23/2003 1:25:16 AM said:
The park would have been empty but there were about 3 or 4 schools there and all the kids flocked to the thrill rides so thats why it was packed.
mrceagle on 2/23/2003 2:38:46 AM said:
butit had to of goten prity dead after 4 then. I think one reason for the desapointment was it was a SF puting ina small Floorles coaster. if a park like canobie which has the money by the way. put it in it would be rated ten times higher then it is.

RAM20884, I got to say youve brought up some of my feelings about this ride with your review. Although I think Ill give it a fairly high score when I finally review it, I can totally understand you giving it a below average score. Batman is fast and smooth etc... but there is just something lacking in this ride. It feels intense when youre on it, but when you hit the breaks there is a curious let down feeling that often comes over me. I dont know, maybe it was all the hype around this ride when it first opened, very few coasters can live up to that kind of expectation.
mrceagle on 2/23/2003 6:15:01 PM said:
I never listned to the hype. I really think they should always run this with two trains and the barcks should be built into a building. use the time stoped to present some kind of finaly.
RAM20884 on 2/23/2003 6:21:08 PM said:
I think my disappointment was based on my expectation which yes was derived from the hype surrounding this ride. However, ur right mrceagle, had canobie put this in then ratings would be higher because of the Six Flags mentality. I think six flags= big thrills so when they advertise this great new coaster and its so short its like thats what they were praising..thats it!..but, had canobie put it in itd be more of wow a little park like canobie putting in a new floorless coaster.
mrceagle on 2/24/2003 12:02:35 AM said:
The thing is thay can do it if they want to . they have the money. the problem if the local government that dosnt want anything over 80ft.
RAM20884 on 2/24/2003 2:45:21 PM said:
why not..seems like a new coaster over 80 ft would attract more guest and tourism is good for the town..hence good for the government. Plus Batmans what like 117 ft..Thats only like 30ft over..i could see if they wanted to put in a hypercoaster.
mrceagle on 2/24/2003 10:15:32 PM said:
It took them 6 months of agruing just to put the sign on the star blaster and thats only 5 ft over. They are tryign but the city wont budg. the need to a higher lader truck is part of the problem. The worst theing is the only other majer thing in town is on its last leg. that atractin is Rockingham park a horse race track. The twon need to understand that the park need to be able to use the land they own for park and build over the hight of 80ft. another thing with canobie is they refuse to add a standard ride. SO no SLC, thow a boomerange was proposed at one point then SF went and put thenm all over the place and blow that onw out

at this tiem they have a design for a Hopkins WWR ride which would lift you op first like Blizard River but would be longer then Thunder rapids at compounce. they also had a custom CCi designed befor the company shut down. money for this projects are siting in a trust waiting to be used. talk of a second dark ride have also come up.
RAM20884 on 2/25/2003 4:37:07 PM said:
wow..just for 5 ft..sounds like a stubborn town..i was wonderin why starblaster was so small.
mrceagle on 2/25/2003 8:05:19 PM said:
acualy it isnt. the S&S double shot is built at only 80ft. so they just got the standerd version. but trust be it kicks Screams but.

4 is too low for this ride, IMO. Ive never been on it, but, like others have mentioned, so is B:TR. I cant imagine this ride would be below a 7 (in fact, I cant figure out how any B&M could be below a 7).
