New Coaster Record

Looks like the former record for rides on different coasters was not only broken, but shattered by a team of four men raising money for Chilrens Miracle Network.

They actually broke the worlds record -- 40 coasters in 24 hours, set by David Escalante of California -- on The Python at Playland Amusements in Ocean City, N.J.

Escalante joined the crew at Busch Gardens, and again at Hersheypark. Instead of a rematch, the thrill riders are considering teaming up.

``David wants us to team up and go for 100, said Guarno, who was eating spicy chicken wings with Escalante in Hershey as he spoke. ``Well see if we can pull together and do that for you next time.

I bet this record won't last for long. There is alot of talk going on in the rec.roller-coaster newsgroup. I think it upset some of the hardcore coasterfolks because of the corporate sponsorship. I say CONGRATS ! If they used planes, trains, autos or rocketships it doesn't matter to me. These guys really pulled something off ! And they raised alot of money for a good cause. If this record isn't broken in the next 12 months I will be suprised.
