Line Waiting, How Long?
Submitted By: ThmPrkCrtc on 8/4/2001 5:10:00 PM
Thought this was an interesting little story about a study done on lines and how long people are willing to wait in theme parks, well sorta.

So a team of reporters was dispatched on a theme-park challenge. The assignment: Pick a park and cram in as many rides as possible between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Stopwatches in hand, we hit 14 places, from the wonderful world of Disney, where we got on fewer than a dozen rides, to the country-music kitsch of Dollywood. At Coney Island, we squeezed in more than 30. Our winner? Probably the last place youd expect.

There are alot of things that parks can do to make the wait more comfortable.
1. Make sure the area is shaded
2. Make water fountains available somewhere along the way in line.
3. If the waiting area is enclosed make sure the is some good ventilation i.e. ceiling fans or blower system.
4. Good music or Video monitors along the way so you don't get to bored.
If the parks would take the guest into consideration instead of forking out millions for thrill ride on a slab of concrete, folks might actually enjoy their park experience and might even consider a return trip from time to time

I just hate it absolutely hate it. First of all when do most people go to amusement parks, the summer. So typically it is hot. Yet all the brand new first ever gimmick coaster lines never have any shade or fans. Parks have been worrying about GETTING people and not TAKING CARE of people. Which in my opinion should be there primary concern.

It really gets nerveracking when you wait in line for an hour+ line in unbearable heat. It seems like you're waiting there for hours. To top it off their is usually little or no shade. Drinks cost 2+ dollars, and their is no place to sit. Their needs to be something done.
