i am planning on going to cedar point, either during the bonus week-ends in early september, or during the halloween week-ends. My main objective is to ride the rollercoasters and i want to avoid big lines if possible. If lines will be similar, then the haunted houses would be nice.(are they any good?) any suggestions, thank you

So...what specifically are you looking for? I mean what rides are you particularly interested in, when are you going, how long will you be there, etc - this will help us to help you out.

I'll suggest one thing: plan for two days if you want to do everything, especially if you want to ride TTD, because if you limit yourself to 1 day you may be SOL with it breaking down or raining or something.

TTD is very unpredictable, but if it is running, then you can do everything in one day if you leave it for the end of the day.

As a general rule, parks tend to be slower in September then October. People don't tend to take trips in September, and with the Holloween events that many parks now have, they tend to draw a bigger crowd in October. I don't know how good CP's Holloween events are, but I have never heard anything outstanding about them, so they may not be worth going out of your way for.

I went to Cedar Point last week and Top Thrill was open both days I went. One thing, if it rains one drop, it WILL be closed. As for the order I normally do TTD first, then Power Tower, then I head to MF. After that, Mantis, Raptor, WT, Magnum, Gemini, Mean Streak, etc. That worked for me (get the rides with the lines over with).

If you are staying on point, you'll get early entry, take advantage of this. If Dragster is open, ride it, if not don't waste your time waiting for it open, go ride MF. You should be able to get a couple rides before the park opens to the public.

When the park opens to the public, go to the back of the park. The back of the park is dead till about 2 - 3 hours after opening. You'll easily get on MS, Gemini, CCMR, Woodstock (if you want), Magnum and Corkscrew within an hour to hour and a half.

Head to MF and get a hand stamp (they start handing them out at 11 or 2 depending on opening time). If Dragster is open and the line isn't bad, ride it then head towards the front of the park hitting rides depending on their line. WT, DT, ID and BS lines usually aren't too bad. Raptor can get ugly so you may want to get a hand stamp there also if the line is long and they are available.

As far as haunted houses go, U R Dade is pretty good and Pharoh's always has a long line. Werewolf Canyon doesn't open until 8 and people were lining up for it 2 hours in advance last year. If the park is really busy, they usually make Fright Zone one way because it gets all balled up and you can't move.

If you go for Halloweekends, I suggest the first weekend. They may not be completely ready (but pretty darn close) and it isn't as busy.

If you are looking at a bonus weekend, be forewarned Coastermania is the weekend of the 18th, so it could be busy. There is also a boat show there that weekend also.

^ nice tips. About the rain and TTD, I think that water messes up the magnetic brakes, because they had to wait for the brakes to dry on Storm Runner after it reained when I went to Hershey

Also, imagine going 120 mph with rain hitting you in the face. I saw S:RoS at SFNE close because the rain was hurting everybody on the train. And that only goes 78 mph. I can only imagine how bad 120 mph would be.

Going 93mph while raining made it more intense (although I could see how some people wouldn't like it)

I rode S:ROS in the rain in April, 2003 and my eyes actaully hurt for two days. It was a weird feeling.

It was like being in a bit of a hail storm, right? I kinda liked it (I wear glasses so my eyes are protected I guess)

I had to put my sunglasses on after the second ride in the rain.
